The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS, our research spans various areas, including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, telomere biology, and genome function. Position Available: Research Associate, Microbiome & Bioinformatics
We are looking for a Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr Anni Zhang at SBS. This role focuses on a cutting-edge project, “Predicting DNA-Protein Binding to Enhance Bacteria-Based Cancer Therapy Safety and Efficacy.”
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze bacterial sequencing data.
- Design bioinformatics and statistical models to detect selective sweeps in the gut microbiome.
- Provide guidance on other microbiome-related projects within the lab.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- A Master's degree in Quantitative Biology or a related field, with a focus on bioinformatics.
- Strong communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
- Experience in developing statistical models.
- Strong background in microbiology and mathematics.
- Personal attributes: patient, curious, cooperative, and meticulous.
