The research scope for this position is in perception and navigation development for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle operating in offshore environment. We will be developing advanced techniques for structural tracking and methods for perception generalisation across multiple types of offshore infrastructure. Perception and navigation strategies around complex jackets will be devised with a high level of scale as the focus for the techniques utilised. The techniques will start first with a mapping step (not necessarily used for localisation) followed by perception and navigation step. The development will be first deployed in the digital twin model of the Technology Centre for Offshore Marine Singapore (TCOMS) ocean basin before being tested in the open waters of Singapore.

• Research and implement perception and fusion algorithms utilising sensors such as camera, stereo camera and sonar.
• Explore cost map and mapping techniques to achieve a certain level of mapping of the environment in 3D space. Be able to extend this is to enable global localisation against this pre-existing a-prior map that is built from previous mapping run.
• Research and explore possible localisation algorithms fusing multiple navigation and sensor sources with SLAM for handling of edge cases in vehicle navigation.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow in the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Purpose of the post

The Research Fellow will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful execution of PI’s research agenda. The RF’s principal role will be to assist the PI in developing their research agenda, help develop publications and carry out work in general practices such as recruitment, data collection, data entry and analysis.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Fellow will liaise with the relevant personnel in the healthcare system and university to smooth the process of recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The RF will be able to:

1. Oversee the general management of the PI’s research agenda;
2. Undertake the day to day running of the PI’s research projects
3. Conduct literature searches, using SPSS to enter data, and analyse data and maintain trial database, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;
4. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
5. Assist PI in developing conference presentations and publications on the ongoing research work.
6. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and French-Singaporean international laboratory (Majulab), are looking for a talented postdoctoral or PhD candidate in experimental physics, for exploring the fundamental and technological quantum resources of systems that are constructed around a high-Kerr photonic resonators – i.e. a resonator in which the nonlinearity strength acts at the scale of one or a few photons. Two research axes are currently in development: (i) New physics and resources emerging in the quantum regime of photonic bistability, and (ii) new paradigm for the measurement of quantum scale forces (i.e. at the scale of single photons recoil) in hybrid Strong-Kerr optomechanical architectures.

More specifically, the goals are:

• Characterise the quantum properties of a strong-Kerr microresonator in the bistable regime using classical and quantum light: e.g.: demonstration of a Dynamical Casimir effect in the jump dynamics, demonstration of a giant single-shot ultra-fast amplification of single or few photons.
• Participate in the development of a new type of hybrid Strong-Kerr optomechanical architecture by optical characterization and feedback (Collaboration for the fabrication: C2N CNRS, Paris-Saclay). Demonstrate the polaritonic-enhancement and the Kerr-enhancement of the optomechanical interactions in the system using externally applied classical and quantum-prepared radiation pressure.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have a solid academic track-record, and in the case of a postdoc position, a previous experience in experimental physics on connected topics such as: Quantum optics, atomic vapours and/or condensates, optomechanics of nano-microsystems, optical spectroscopy of solid-state nano-micro-systems.

The appointee will join CQT under the supervision of Dr M. Richard (Majulab & CQT affiliated). The candidate will contribute in every aspect of the group operation, e.g. by co-supervising interns and PhD candidates.
