At Fraunhofer Singapore Research Ltd in Singapore, we are now looking for a liaison officer and technology research manager. In close collaboration with Fraunhofer institutes and our partners, you will represent the interests of Fraunhofer Singapore and advise and support Fraunhofer institutes with regard to their activities in Singapore and the region, acting as an integrated interface to Germany and Singapore. You will also develop measures for establishing partnerships with scientific organizations and research-intensive Singapore and regional companies. Your work will include technology research management and competence scouting as well as segmentation and market knowledge of the Singapore and ASEAN markets. This will also include organization and implementation of topic-specific workshops. In addition, support and participation in trade fairs and conferences and to support demonstrators at Fraunhofer Singapore and work on innovative technologies and demonstrate their potential applications.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Your tasks
- Maintaining existing and establishing new industry collaborations and partnerships in applied research and at universities in Singapore; advising and supporting Fraunhofer institutes in Germany
- Connecting with Fraunhofer researchers, Singapore’s research organizations, business and industry associations, and agencies and local government as well as exploring strategic research collaborations in Singapore and the region.
- Analysing the technology, research and innovation landscapes in Singapore and the region
- Actively supporting Fraunhofer Singapore and bridging to German Fraunhofer institutes when it comes to establishing contacts and acquiring R&D contracts with companies, industry associations and research organizations in Singapore; promoting new research and development projects in order to provide innovative and sustainable solutions from the entire Fraunhofer portfolio to potential customers.
- Identifying suitable international funding announcements and research funding as well as supporting scientists and researchers at Fraunhofer institutes in their development of businesses with our partners.
- Organizing networking events and participating in research-related workshops and conferences to increase the visibility and efficiency of Fraunhofer Singapore, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and its network in Singapore.
- Supporting delegations and trade fairs.
- Developing own R&D portfolio at Fraunhofer Singapore in collaboration with our partners
- Actively promoting the Fraunhofer brand and engaging in marketing and outreach activities under Fraunhofer Singapore
Qualification requirements
- Appropriate research and/or professional experience in industry/technology management and research
- Knowledge of the Singapore industry or research landscape
- Completed university studies in science, engineering, or economics; profound technical understanding (technical university degree)
- Passion for international collaboration as well as for research and innovation management
- Program and project management expertise; planning and organizational skills.
- Good analytical and perceptive skills as well as communication skills, both written and spoken, in an intercultural context; independence, judgment and diplomatic flair, strong organizational skills, diligence and thoroughness
- Proficiency in written and spoken German and English; knowledge in spoken Chinese/Mandarin is a benefit.
- Good knowledge about the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft with work and collaboration experience with Fraunhofer Institutes
The applicant must fulfill the legal requirements for employment in Singapore. We will offer the selected candidate a local employment contract initially for 12 months according to labor law in Singapore.
