A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. The Ocular Epidemiological Research Group at SERI conducts ophthalmic epidemiologic research in Singapore and Asia under the Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Diseases (SEED) programme collectively involving over 10,000 study subjects, with comprehensive clinical, image and genetic data. One of the projects including SEED data is ‘Diabetes studY in Nephropathy And other Microvascular cOmplications (DYNAMO-II)’. DYNAMO-II aims to determine the longitudinal relationship between retinal imaging parameters and long-term risk and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and determine the predictive value of retinal vascular imaging measures in identifying patients at risk of CKD, and other adverse outcomes including renal failure, cardiovascular disease and deaths using both data-derived machine learning and retinal image-based “deep learning” algorithms with validation in different local and international cohorts. DYNAMO also includes a clinical cohort that recruits diabetic patients from clinics to predict the progression of CKD.

A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. This role requires good understanding and knowledge of the underlying key process/chemical engineering and scientific principles of low carbon technologies and uses computer aided engineering tools such as simulators, process and plant engineering tools for process development and engineering. Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for providing scientific and technical direction and/or development, design, and scale up of carbon capture, utilisation and low carbon hydrogen technologies
• Responsible for developing new projects, including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.
• Responsible for the executing or planning/directing of laboratory-based or pilot-based experiments to support process development, scale-up campaigns and process optimisation leading up to technology transfer
• Lead or support multi-disciplinary team of scientist and engineers through technical challenges and contribute to the successful completion of projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical or other related engineering fields.
• Possess at least 10 years of experience in process development and engineering with good knowledge on process control and safety in the process or chemical industry
• Excellent working knowledge on various process technologies, scale-up & scale-down and process intensification methodologies or principles
• Has good working experience with relevant computer aided engineering tools including simulation (eg. Aspen Plus, AVEVA, Gproms etc.), and the use of detailed process models to support process design, scale-up and process optimisation during operations
