We are looking for a focused and highly motivated individual to contribute to a dynamic and growing team. This team aims to expedite the novel light-weight and flexible perovskite solar cells for low-weight applications such as portable and wearable devices, BIPV and IoT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Research Engineer specializing in flexible perovskite solar cells, your responsibilities will revolve around conducting research, development, and optimization of this emerging technology. Here are some key job scopes for this position:

· Optimize deposition techniques, such as solution processing, vacuum deposition, or printing methods, to achieve uniform and high-quality perovskite thin films on flexible substrates.

· Investigate new materials, device architectures, and manufacturing methods to improve the overall performance and reliability of flexible perovskite solar cells.

· Investigate encapsulation strategies and barrier materials to protect flexible perovskite solar cells from degradation.

· Design and execute experiments to fabricate and characterize flexible perovskite solar cells.

· Conduct accelerated aging tests and reliability studies to evaluate long-term stability and durability of the devices.

· Scale up procedures from lab-scale to manufacturing scale.

· Conceptualize and realize new device configurations with enhanced stability and efficiency

· Report writing and results presentation

· Regular maintaining of research and study records, conceptualize, execute and interpret scientific experiments

· Work closely with internal colleagues in Singapore and China to work in company target.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

· Master, PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry or related fields with in-depth knowledge of materials (especially perovskites), device physics and processing.

· Deep understanding of all kind of perovskite materials and interface engineering. Experience in flexible perovskite solar cells and low-temperature process/deposition is a plus.

· Expertise in device making and materials characterizations.

· Good skills in time management, experiment design and data analysis.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

The key roles and responsibilities of the science laboratory support officer are to provide general cleaning and assist the science laboratory technician to maintain the science laboratories and preparation rooms.

The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Wang Xuesen & Professor Wee Thye Shen, Andrew on experimental studies of epitaxial moiré superstructures under a project on the Investigation of Practical Epitaxial Moiré Superstructures with Novel Electronic Properties.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• To identify several overlayer-substrate material combinations suitable for epitaxial moiré superlattices
• To carry out epitaxial growth of the overlayer that forms a moiré superlattice on a substrate in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) chamber
• To analyze the atomic and electronic structures of epitaxial moiré superlattices using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS)
• To analyze experimental data, comparing with computational results and draft manuscripts for publication
• To provide guidance and assistance to the PhD and Master students doing similar experimental studies in this project.

Qualifications

• Qualifications / Discipline: PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science.

The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is the research division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), with a vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focussing on the Southeast Asia region. With approximately fifty staff, CCRS’ mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community.

Within CCRS, the Department of Weather Research (DWR) is responsible for research and development supporting CCRS’ core ‘seamless’ ‘SINGV’ modelling system, used in both Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and regional climate projection applications e.g. Singapore’s ‘V3’ 3rd National Climate Study launched in January 2024. DWR also oversees research in AI-based rainfall nowcasting, forecast verification, the transition to operations of NWP science upgrades, and the development of customised products to support MSS weather services and other stakeholders. DWR works closely with CCRS’ High Performance Computing Branch, local universities and has bilateral research partnerships with several major international weather/climate organisations including the UK Met Office, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, and US National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). • Maintain a safe, clean and tidy laboratory environment.

• Ensure that all apparatus and equipment are safe and clean for use.

• Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, materials and specimens in good working condition.

• Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately, and display an “Out of Order” sign prominently on the machines/equipment.

• Ensure that all glass apparatus or breakages are disposed of appropriately.

• Ensure that Bunsen burners and high risk items (data loggers and microscopes) are properly kept and under lock and key.

• Inspect Bunsen burners to ensure they are in good condition.

• Keep a stock book and breakage record to indicate necessary replacement.

• Check and replenish first aid supplies.

• Aid Science teachers in preparing resources for laboratory lessons.

• Aid Science teachers during laboratory lessons, when required.

• Aid Science teachers with the clearing up after laboratory lessons, when required.

• Any other work assigned by the Science HOD.

Job Requirements:

A) The Personnel shall have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

(i) Has experience working at Science Labs in Primary Schools.

(ii) Can speak, write and understand English

B) The Personnel should preferably be able to use phone message apps and emails.

• Collaboration in space planning assignments, conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction observation.

• 2-5 years Architect with healthcare experience or inclination.

• Available for business travel if necessary.
• Excel in 3D modelling, visualisation, and graphic software; BIM skillset is strongly preferred. (Others include acad, Sketch-up, Enscape, adobe and Microsoft suites).
