We are looking for a motivated research fellow who is keen on studying how microbes contribute to common skin diseases such as eczema and acne. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. We have extensive experience in metagenomic analysis in clinically or commercially important contexts such as uncovering distinct microbial communities in households affected by paediatric eczema (PMID: 35318044) and revealing the microbial basis of body odour in teenagers (PMID: 30497517). THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated Personal Assistant to work alongside the Senior Assistant and our dynamic global administration team to assist with all matters relating to the Directors’ duties. You will be part of a leading and fast-growing global healthcare research organisation with offices and collaborations around the world. Alongside your personal assistant duties, there would be the ability to expand into a financial/business development combined role.

Prior PA experience is not essential but excellent organisation and communication skills are required, including excellent written and verbal business English skills. The candidate must have a tertiary qualification and some prior work experience in a relevant field. Experience within project management, personal finance or budgeting would be desired but not essential. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage and maintain the Directors’ diary, ensuring all commitments are coordinated effectively.
2. Filter significant amounts of information, emails, queries, phone calls and invitations to the Director by redirecting or taking forward such contact as appropriate.
3. Coordinate with the internal teams to set up important meetings and assist with minute-taking when needed.
4. Assist in management of the Director’s properties, including general maintenance plus holiday bookings.
5. Assist the Director with any personal requests, which may include purchasing, correspondence etc.
6. Work closely with the finance team to assist with the Directors’ finances and budgeting.

The Services required include the following :

1. Liaise with teaching staff on their logistics for practical/performance tasks.

2. Preparation of laboratory practical / performance tasks, (prepare samples / specimens) including set-up and breakdown as per science level representative’s instructions.

3. Set up any laboratory equipment needed for the experiment, such as microscopes, test tubes and calibrated glass flasks for every workbook experimental activities.

4. Clean up any spills, wash the equipment and glassware, such as conical flasks, measuring cyclinders and beakers used by students. Report any breakage in the record book and update HOD Science.

5. Testing equipment beforehand so as to ensure a successful learning experience.
