RESPONSIBILITIES
Work done will be at the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), and where relevant, the Industry Directorand Centre Director. As the Programme is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary by nature, you will be expected to convey your domain expertise and edify others (and vice versa) in as productive, constructive, and collaborative a manner as possible.
You may be asked to participate in the development of use cases and delivery of proof-of-concept prototypes for government and industry partners in the areas of computable contracts and "rules as code". Experience in requirements analysis and agile, iterative methodologies will be useful at this stage.The work of the team will be largely determined by these use cases and customers. We will work with multipleuse cases so that we can abstract across them and develop generalized, reusable infrastructure. We will work with specific customers so we can build useful applications on top of that infrastructure.You will work as part of a team of research engineers, developers, and domain expertise and you will beexpected to actively participate in team meetings and text-based communications. You will be expected to be active members of the applied research community, by validating and contributing to advances in computational law.
As a Technical Project Manager, you will be required to work closely with and at the direction of the PI and Industry Director. This includes:
- Determining and planning the core requirements, deliverables, budget, and resources of a use case or research project
- Allocating tasks and designating responsibilities by identifying the specific skill sets of engineers
- Supervising the research team and monitoring progress of technical tasks on a daily basis,
- Leading project milestones tracking and ensuring that project objectives and timelines are met
- Identifying project challenges and problems and devising strategies to resolving them at both the team level and technical level
- Coordinating the team and developing effective communication plans and processes
- Collating project status update and reporting them regularly to the PI and Industry Director, including escalating any functional/timeline issues in a timely manner
- Organising meetings, setting the right agenda, recording outcomes and tracking open items to closure
- Managing risk, issue, dependency and ensuring mitigation plan
- Driving the recruitment for roles within the team to fill any skills gap
- Engaging with industry partners to understand business requirements and constraints
- reading academic papers, standards publications, and related material such as blog posts andpresentations
- Reading (and updating/commenting, relevant) existing software documentation
- creating presentations, video recordings, walkthroughs, etc. to document and explain research workdone
- writing (and presenting, if so decided by the PI) academic papers and materials for publication; and
- documenting in a sufficiently-detailed manner so as to share what you've learned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree, and any experience with law and/or computer science, are a plus
- Degree holder with at least 5 years of relevant working experience
- Track record in leading, managing and delivering technology projects
- Good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written/spoken English)
- Strong experience in project management
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and stakeholder management skills
- Strong capabilities in producing project reporting
- Technical proficiency: GitHub, Asana, Slack, and all major forms of software methodology (Agile, Lean,Scrum, etc)
- Essential for the individual to be self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently
- Agile, with meticulous attention-to-detail, and well-organised
- Ability to multi-task and willingness to learn quickly and effectively
- Ability to be discrete and maintain confidential information
- Understanding of how to prioritize and respond accordingly
- A self starter who is able to work independently, and under pressure, while consistently exercisingsound judgment even when faced with ambiguity
- Be transparent and unafraid to challenge, ask questions or call out obstacles
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to roll up your sleeves to get things done
