The Role

A multinational organisation specialising in Medical Technology is seeking for a Legal Director to lead the APAC region including South-East Asia, China, India, New Zealand.

The Opportunity

This MedTech organisation specialises in developing innovative technologies which play a significant role in therapy advancements and in addressing diseases in Hematology, Oncology, Neurology, Autoimmune Diseases and Regenerative Medicine.

The Legal Director will lead the legal function and oversee all legal and compliance matters for the organisation. This role involves providing strategic legal advice to senior management, ensuring compliance with global regulations, managing legal risks, and protecting the company’s interests.

The Legal Director will support the business's growth and operations by advising on various legal issues, including corporate governance, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, licensing, contracts, litigation and Mergers & Aquisitions.

This position requires a proactive and strategic legal professional with experience in the Medical Device and healthcare sector.

What we look for:

• Law degree (LLB or JD) from a recognised institution, with a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction (Masters degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10-15 years of legal experience, with a significant portion in the Medical Device, healthcare, or life sciences industry (Medical Device & MedTech sectors are highly preferred)
• Experience in a multinational organisation or law firm handling complex legal and regulatory issues.
• Strong knowledge of medical device regulations, requirements, anti-corruption laws, and other relevant healthcare laws.
• Experience with M&A, joint ventures, or other strategic transactions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage a legal team and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent negotiation, contract drafting & review, communication skills and ability to draft legal terminology in Chinese language
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive, business-oriented approach to legal issues.

Job Description:

As a Project Manager – Regulatory Separation, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in the Asia. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Prepare and Manage communications and information to RAQ Program Leadership, Transformation Management Office leadership, directly with country RA teams, and support consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Support Asia RA LT team to plan and execute.
• Track, monitor and hand on the Separation activities in Asia to ensure smooth transition to TDSA exit.
• Execute Regulatory deliverables as required. Collect, analyse, interpret and share data to enable project progression.
• Collaborate and coordinate with RAQ Separation Program Manager, supporting consultants, separation team leaders, stakeholders, and project team members to complete project plans.
• Leveraging global and area resources across the Division/Business/Staff Unit as well as typically across several disciplines, to achieve timely completion of project deliverables.
• Work with RAQ teams and serving as point of contact to internal stakeholders to work on the common interests of project achievements.
• Performing other duties as assigned including regulatory related separation deliverables, e,g, rebranding, as required.

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
• Five (5) combined years of experience operating and/or managing complex programs, projects, or initiatives in a commercial business environment.
• Five (5) years of regulatory experience within the Healthcare environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

1. Strong proficiency with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Power Point, Power BI skills
2. Deep functions operating experiences within the business model in a health care environment. RAQ experience is a plus.
3. Established network and credibility with multiple functions and/ or businesses in a project manager or similar role
4. Past working experience on acquisition or divestiture activities from a regulatory perspective
5. Strong English communications and inter-personal skills with multiplier mindset
6. Very well managed, decision maker with high agility and responsibility to perform
