Research Assistant/Associate Policy Analyst – Population Health

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a Research Assistant/Associate Policy Analyst. The rapid population ageing in Singapore calls for innovative solutions. We aim to assess the impact of health promotion programmes (e.g. urban care farming, cognition training, etc) on the health and health-related behaviours of participants. This project will involve recruitment, assessment, and analysis of the research data. The candidate will also be working on models in policy evaluation. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Duties may include but are not limited to: (1) provide programming support to a research project (2) assist with recruitment and data analyses; (3) manage large complex databases; (4) conduct literature reviews (5) contribute to the development of scientific papers and the dissemination of the study findings.

The appointed candidate should: (1) Hold at least a bachelor degree (2) be proficient in Stata or R and (3) have experience in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, computer science, quantitative social science, public health, epidemiology or related field. Experience with C++ is preferred but not required.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to query large data sets and have excellent knowledge of quantitative methods in applied health and/or social sciences. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other basic desktop applications (i.e. MS Outlook, Exchange, internet tools, etc.) is assumed.
• Strong communication and good interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with broadcast workflows.
• Understanding of streaming video.
• Keen interest in Sports & live broadcasting is an advantage.
• Monitoring of Video streaming services using probes and tools provided by premium OTT service provider.
• Manage the transmission path for acquiring video and routing sources ensuring overall OTT service availability.
• Respond to automatic alerts, escalations in timely manner and identify issue for proactive actions for service recovery.
• Open trouble tickets and activate incident management procedures by alerting internal and external teams. Remain service owner till the time issue is resolved and incident report is generated with conclusion.
• Receive and track maintenance notifications. Co-ordinate internally and externally to conclude such maintenance without or minimal impact on streaming services.
• Log issues and provide incident management reports.
• Manage communication with content partner and other global TOCs.
• Perform proactive transmission routine tasks.
• Perform request for streaming channels turn-ups and turn-downs based on standard communication.
• Previous working experience in similar roles would be beneficial.
• Prior working experience with video streaming systems is beneficial.
• Knowledge of video streaming formats and video broadcast ingest is recommended.
• Decision maker and problem solver, critical eye for diagnostics.
• Ability to perform technical troubleshooting to second line level, particularly networking.
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts that include nights, weekends and public holidays.
