The EOS/ASE Geodesy Group at NTU is searching for a Research Engineer II to work under the supervision of Prof Emma Hill on the role of tectonics in modifying regional relative sea level (RSL). The successful candidate will analyse geodetic data and conduct numerical modelling to estimate RSL related to past and future earthquakes and other processes of land-height change in Southeast Asia.

Further to this, they will work on projects aimed at effective communication of these results to policymakers and other stakeholders. They will investigate best practices for communicating probabilistic estimates of potential future impacts of earthquakes on RSL. The successful candidate will have a Bachelors’ degree in Earth Science, natural hazards, remote sensing, geodesy, computer science, data science, or a related subject. The role is primarily to support the Binnies Singapore office to secure and deliver the Coastal and Flood Risk projects in Singapore. In addition, the successful individual will require to provide support to UK offices to deliver their Flood, Coastal, and Maritime projects.

It is primarily a technical role involving participation in maritime and coastal related civil engineering projects and studies. The individual will require performing design tasks, various studies, engineering management, client liaising, and communicating with other teams and offices.

The individual may need to work as a coastal specialist working closely with the same discipline and other multidisciplinary teams. This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to develop his/her technical and engineering management skills, particularly in various types of flood, maritime and coastal projects, and obtain international experience.

Required Competencies

• CPD in the relevant specialist skill area
• BSc or MEng (Hons) Coastal Engineering
• Specialist knowledge of areas such as metocean studies, feasibility studies, Beach and shore management plan preparation, and detailed design
• Coastal engineering knowledge (tide, current, waves, wave overtopping, rubble mound structures, tidal and storm surge barriers, coast protection works)
• Sound knowledge of BS Maritime & Eurocode codes and industry-standard guidelines such as CIRIA and other relevant international standards and guidelines

• Assist project manager in planning and execution of project plans at construction site
• Execute project plan and ensure works completed as per schedule and in accordance to contract specification and design drawing
• Ensure construction site fullfill authority's code of practice and comply with safety house rules.
• Handle correspondance job paperwork and submission
• Liaise with all parties involved in the project including local authorities, consultants, clients, subcontractors and suppliers
• Attend site meetings and inspections, report regularly on progress and monitor schedule

Responsible for civil and steel structures scopes for building construction works.

- Study tender / construction drawings, specifications, contracts scope of works to understand project requirements.

- Plan, schedule work sequences, prepare Microsoft Project for all task and micro-schedule form throughout the project.

- Perform site inspection and ensure that the work is carried out based on the project specification and construction drawing, consultant, and authority requirement.

- Liaise and coordinate with consultants, client, main contractor, other contractor and authority.

- Provide guidance to supervisors in relation to construction works, ensure progress according to schedule.

- Ensure project is executed according to micro-schedule and timeline.

- Resolve all engineering, technical and project queries from time to time.

- Prepare a report and method statement whenever necessary.

- Prepare progress report, handover report, meeting minutes, TOP/CSC documentation, and other requirement request by client and authority.

Requirements:
