Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle and SQL databases to maintain high availability and performance.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance and conduct performance tuning activities to optimize query performance, resource utilization, and response times.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters.
- Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze database growth trends and plan for future capacity requirements to ensure scalability and efficient resource utilization.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption incidents.
- Database Automation: Develop and maintain scripts, automation tools, and monitoring solutions to streamline database administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, and generate regular reports on database performance, availability, and security compliance.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and security professionals, to support application deployment, integration, and testing activities. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates, recommendations, and resolutions related to database operations.
- Any other ad hoc duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in a banking or financial services environment.
- Proficiency in administering Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, data modeling principles, and relational database concepts.
- Experience with database monitoring and management tools, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, or similar.
- Knowledge of database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell) for automation and task scheduling.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, are a plus.
