Department overview:

Risk Infrastructure is responsible for the overall governance and support of the firm’s Financial Risk platform. This includes activities like Input Data Management and Control, Exposure Metric Validation, Data Integrity & consistency and Capital Assurance, Risk Limit Management and Risk Reporting. In addition, they assist Risk Managers (RM) in resolving data issues where necessary and take corrective actions. RI also drives data management strategy for Risk and helps develop data architectures that are flexible and scalable to meet new regulatory requirements.

Market Risk Infrastructure (MRI) is responsible for the integrity of the data which flows into the firms Market risk management systems and the controls which govern the sign off and reporting of risk metrics by Market Risk Managers. The position falls within our Market Risk Management (MRM) team based in Singapore. The MRM team forms part of our 2nd Line of Defense (2LOD), working alongside the front office for Limit and Capital Management

Role & Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Market Risk Infrastructure is a leadership role responsible for the overall governance, data integrity, and support of the firm's Financial Risk platform. This role drives the data management strategy, develops scalable data architectures, and ensures robust processes for input data management, capital assurance, risk limit management, and risk reporting. The VP manages a team of analysts & associates across geographies in Asia Pacific., collaborates cross-functionally, and leads strategic initiatives related to Market Risk Data governance and Regulatory compliance.

Other duties include:

  • Manage, develop and mentor a team of analysts & associates supporting data governance, data quality assurance, and risk reporting processes across APAC.
  • Resolve data issues and take corrective actions as needed for Market risk metrics sign off.
  • Establish and enforce data management policies, standards, and controls for market risk data.
  • Assist in developing scalable data architectures and pipelines to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy of capital calculations.
  • Deliver high-quality MRI reporting and data visualization solutions for stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic initiatives related to Market Risk metrics like FRTB for sign off, data governance, regulatory compliance, and risk platform enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Market Risk Managers, Technology, Market Risk Methodology, and other teams on complex initiatives.
  • Review of all risk model changes and parameter updates for the region and communicate with RMs on the impacts, key drivers and changes.
  • Work with risk managers on regional risk metrics analysis and what-if simulations for new business and transactions.
  • Effectively communicate complex topics
  • Identify limitations, provide recommendations, and implement compensating controls as needed.
  • Oversight of reconciliation, control and signoff processes on Market Risk related regulatory deliveries in the region eg. MAS, SFC.
  • Interact with Internal/External Auditors for periodic reviews and exams.

Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial services as Head of Market Risk Infrastructure, with a minimum of 3 years of management experience.
  • Experience in building scalable data architectures, and risk reporting solutions, market risk measures (VaR, IRC, SVaR etc.), methodologies, and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in market risk management, data governance, data quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conversant with latest regulations like Basel III / FRTB.
  • Experience in designing and implementation of robust data management policies, standards, and controls.
  • Strong skills in data management tools, SQL, ETL processes, and data visualization techniques.
  • Excellent project/program management, stakeholder management, and team leadership abilities
  • Outstanding analytical, communication (written and verbal), and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Expertise in capital markets products, trading strategies, and risk management best practices.
  • Track record of driving innovation and leading strategic, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Detailed orientated with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
