Singapore Badminton Association – Junior Performance Programme Coach
Singapore Badminton Association are looking for a full-time Coach to work within the Junior Performance Programmes (JPP), based at the Singapore Sports School (SSP), the Coach will complement the current Coaching Team.
Reporting Structure
· Reports to Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) Junior Performance Programme Director (JPPD) and Junior Performance Head Coach (JPHC) to carry out all roles & responsibilities in consultation with the reporting personnel.
· The role is based at the Singapore Sports School with a focus of developing the junior players on the SBA JPP whilst working closely with the other Junior Performance Coaches.
Main Duties & Responsible
The role of the SBA Junior Performance Coach will encompass several key areas of operation for SBA & SSP. The post holder will be expected to:
a) Coaching Responsibilities
· Day to day coaching role within the JPP based at the SSP under the leadership of the JPHC and JPPD
· Carry out the players profiling system at SSP together with JPPD and JPHC
· Be familiar with SBA Junior development direction and system, provide valuable input and feedback to JPPD and JPHC
· Provide yearly evaluation and recommendation of JPP players to management as part of the development plan
· Plan and design effective coaching/training programmes for the JPP players
· Work with JPPD and JPHC to create an effective programme calendar of events/competitions for the year
· Assist the support personel with fitness/testing and evaluations of results and maintaining records
· Execution of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly training plans for athletes
· Cover any additional duties that assigned by SBA/JPP/SSP Management as necessary
· Overseas travel may be required as part of the role for tournaments or training camps.
b) Administration & Technical Responsibility
· Adapt & apply Sports Science in training sessions
· Work under the JPPD and JPHC for preparation and delivery of YPIs
· Work with NYSI S&C coaches including communicating and providing input to the S&C programme to enhance the development of players
· Assist with JPPD and JPHC with recruitment and selection process and plan with performance criteria to attract new students to the academy
· Monitor and ensure the safety of facility, fields and all equipment used in the sport
· Complete in a timely fashion all necessary records, reports and individual athlete profile
c) Team Management
· Communicate to athletes with regards to character development of an athletes
· Always display good sportsmanship, serving as role model for athlete and demonstrate ethical and professional behaviour in working with athletes, parents, and other stakeholders of SBA/SSP
· Communicate and report to JPPD and JPHC regularly to ensure that behaviour expectations of athletes are being met
· Provide input to JPPD and JPHC about accomplishments and needs of athlete, schedules and other matters and functioning of the academy
d) Knowledge Transfer
· Conduct at least 1 CCE workshop for local coaches
Personal Specification:
Experience
Ideally a former player and have at least 5 years of coaching experience.
Would be an advantage if he has been in a ‘team’ set-up High Performance environment.
Preferably with a strong doubles coaching background.
Skills
Be able to work in a team environment or demonstrate that they have experience working in a team environment.
Flexible.
Strong communication skills in English.
Speaking a 2nd language such as Mandarin would be an advantage.
Be able to conduct a training session/programme independently.
Requirements
Be able to work legally in Singapore.
Preferred Singapore citizen or PR.
Ability to travel internationally.
Starting date:
This will be worked out in line with the successful candidate.
Salary:
Range between $4K to $6K per month depending on level and experience.
