Summary:
- The candidate is expected to have a strong background in accounting and financial instruments, and experience in building reconciliation tools.
- The ideal candidate will have expertise in accounting logic such as average book costing and FIFO methods, as well as a deep understanding of financial instruments including equities, derivatives, and their accounting treatment.
- This role will involve developing, maintaining and enhancing financial software systems, with a particular focus on ensuring the accuracy of financial data in balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain financial software applications.
- Implement accounting logic such as average book costing and FIFO.
- Develop algorithms to handle the accounting treatment of various financial instruments.
- Design and build reconciliation tools to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Integrate financial software with other systems and databases.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for financial software applications.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Provide training and support to end-users.
Skillset Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software development.
- Proficient in programming languages, such as Java or similar.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices with experience in cash and accrual accounting.
- Experience with accounting methods such as average book costing and FIFO.
- Knowledge of the accounting treatment of financial instruments including equities, derivatives, and other assets.
- Experience in building and implementing reconciliation tools for accounting modules.
- Proven working experience in Java/J2EE application development.
- Strong knowledge of Java 8, Oracle, PL/SQL - including packages, views, procedures, etc.
- Strong experience with WebLogic server.
- Working knowledge of DevOps tools for source control and CI/CD, such as GitHub, SourceTree.
- Strong collaboration skill and the ability to work independently.
- Quick problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
