Job Summary:
The Candidate will be responsible for leading the development and execution of renewable energy (RE) projects and other strategic transactions that drive the growth and profitability of RGE Group’s RE businesses. This role involves spearheading business development efforts to identify and secure new opportunities in the RE sector, including solar, wind, BESS, and other emerging technologies. The Candidate will also oversee project development from inception, feasibility studies through to construction commencement, ensuring projects meet technical, commercial, financial, and government stakeholders’ requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
The Candidate will be a key member of the core RE leadership team, based in Singapore headquarters. Specific roles include:
1. Business Development:
- Conduct / leverage market research and analyses to underpin business development and expansion strategies;
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the RE space (initial focus on solar, wind and BESS);
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of projects and partnerships, including M&A RE platform deals;
- Lead and co-ordinate the development of business proposals for new projects and opportunities;
- Enhance RGE RE branding and market presence through proactive collaborations with RGE’s communications team and participation in industry events.
2. Project Development:
- Conduct initial feasibility studies to pre-screen and determine the risk / return business potential of projects / platforms;
- Lead / Coordinate in the detailed due diligence of potential projects / platforms, including technical, environmental, commercial and financial aspects to ensure alignment with company objectives and regulatory requirements;
- Engage and liaise with external consultants and advisors as needed;
- Support development and implement strategies for timely and cost effective procurement of quality equipment, materials, and services required for project development and construction;
- Lead / assist in overall project management, working with project teams to oversee the project development process, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards;
- Engage other relevant external stakeholders including government agencies and end customers;
- Assist in the development of operations and maintenance (O&M) strategies to ensure the long-term performance and reliability of renewable energy assets.
Qualifications:
· Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, energy, science or related fields.
· Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role;
- Proven track record of successful regional business and project development in renewable energy (utility scale or large distributed);
- Experience in development of gas fired / hybrid / BESS energy solutions an advantage.
· Other Requirements:
o Good understanding & experience of various RE equipment & technologies across solar, wind, BESS etc.;
- Strong commercial awareness & proven business development ability to foresee & seize opportunities;
- Strong leadership and management skills to lead & develop high performing teams in a business growth phase & fast paced environment;
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, able to think strategically and execute tactically;
- Personal qualities which prioritize inspiring leadership, teamwork, trust & strong relationship building with business partners within RGE & external stakeholders;
- Able to travel occasionally as needed;
- Knowledge of Mandarin an advantage.
