Job Summary


The role of Head of Communications exists to ensure clear, concise, complete, correct, and timely communication to Company’s audiences, including:

  • employees both in the division and elsewhere.
  • external stakeholders, partners, and the industry; and
  • investors (via Aegon’s Global Investor Relations).

The Head of Communications is responsible for:

  • assessing the most appropriate media and messaging to improve communication about the Company.
  • supporting Leadership team in translating the business strategy and plans to increase understanding, engagement and performance of the various stakeholder groups.
  • managing all internal communications across available channels (including but not limited to email, intranet, posters, Town Hall meetings).
  • collating, writing, or adopting communication content about initiatives and news from the business units and joint ventures in the division.
  • acting as the primary contact on communication matters with Headoffice


Responsibilities

  • Partners closely with CEO to develop, consult and recommend executive messaging and visual approaches for various presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Works closely with the leadership team members in the business units to improve and refine functional communication.
  • Liaises regularly with Headoffice to ensure consistency and adoption of messaging for the division.
  • Liaises regularly with the business units and joint ventures to gather content and communicate as appropriate to a broader Aegon audience.
  • Reinforces the Aegon style principles for communication throughout the division.
  • Applies knowledge of communication channels to develop targeted and effective messages and communications that support business strategy and priorities.
  • Continually evaluates communication plan effectiveness using appropriate tools and success metrics and adjusts communication based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Writes, prepares, reviews and edits communication material including articles, intranet content, presentations, Q&As and other collateral.
  • Administers and supports a range of communication channels, including intranet, emails and Town Hall meetings.
  • Develops and implements communication plans and key messages for initiatives and projects.
  • Support any ad hoc projects with communication activities as required by the business.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in communication or change management field. Experience working in the insurance industry and having regional experience in Asian markets are highly desirable.
  • Experience leading an internal communications or engagement function in a commercial organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of various communications vehicles to include both current and emerging technologies.
  • Strong skills in executive speech writing, writing engaging content and storytelling.
  • Curiosity to learn about the business/business oriented.
  • Creativity and sense of innovation
  • Results orientation and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong strategic thinking, judgment, and execution skills with an international and growth-orientated mindset.
  • Critical thinking
  • Ad-hoc business travel is required.
