Responsibilities
Storage Management:
- Administer and manage mainframe storage systems, including DASD (Direct Access Storage Device), tape libraries, and virtual tape systems.
- Monitor storage performance and capacity, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
- Perform regular storage maintenance tasks such as space reclamation, defragmentation, and backups.
Data Integrity and Security:
- Ensure data integrity and reliability through regular data backups, disaster recovery planning, and implementation.
- Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data stored on mainframe systems.Performance Optimization:
Analyze and resolve performance issues related to storage subsystems.
Work with application teams to optimize storage utilization and performance.
Capacity Planning:
- Conduct capacity planning to anticipate future storage needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of storage inventory and usage statistics.
Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for storage-related issues and incidents.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex system problems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain documentation for storage configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Generate regular reports on storage performance, capacity, and utilization.
Project Involvement:
- Participate in IT projects involving storage infrastructure, providing expertise and guidance.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new storage technologies and solutions.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience working with Mainframe Storage management n a z/OS environment including experience with REXX, JCL, TSO/ISPF, RMM, DFSMS, DFHSM etc
- Install, configure, and upgrade Mainframe Storage software and third-party products
- Monitor storage systems for performance and troubleshoot issues
- Work with application teams to provide support storage related issues
- Support 24x7 technical troubleshooting and support including engagement of IBM and vendors for problem resolution and determination
- Provide process automation support and maintain SOP documentation
- Support backup/recovery and disaster/recovery planning and testing
- Support periodic system configuration reviews and audit reviews
