We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead and execute complex engineering projects from concept to R&D design and to completion of the project. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in mechanical engineering and proven program management skills in a fluid-immersion compute environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of product development cycles, strong knowledge in mechanical engineering, an excellent understanding of data-centre network topologies and server-leaf-spine networking, have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, and excel at managing resources from cross-functional teams.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management:
- Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines.
- Scope and budget large-scale projects, medium-scale research and development sprints.
- Engineer, design, prototype, document mechanical and electro-mechanical parts and equipment, and prepare these for manufacture.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, manage procurement, negotiate cost and feasibility of bespoke products with manufacturers, and take completed designs through the manufacturing production process.
- Travelling internationally to negotiate with potential suppliers and manufacturers
- Track project progress, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (R&D teams, Networking teams, Mechanical Engineering teams etc.) to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
Technical Expertise:
- Technical ability for different aspects of mechanical/thermal-fluid mechanical design, including complete expertise in product design, material suitability, paper-based and FME/CFD analysis, and providing technical guidance and expertise on mechanical engineering aspects of the project.
- Excellent understanding of data-centre networking requirements, including transceiver types and uses, transceiver design, and all aspects of copper and fibre DAC and other connections.
- Participate in the designing of mechanical components, conduct design reviews and provide technical input to cross-functional teams to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop innovative solutions and resolve technical challenges.
- Documentation of technical discussions, updating senior leadership on project and technical progress
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product design and development.
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in large scale program or project management.
- Combination of document management and budget management skills.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects.
- Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
