Business Development Manager (Food Manufacturing)

Position Overview:
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving the overall expansion of our food manufacturing business in Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, business development, and a deep understanding of the food manufacturing industry. This role will report to the Regional Director and work closely with the marketing and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to grow the company’s presence in Malaysia.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, joint ventures, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including distributors, retailers, and suppliers.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform business strategies.
  • Negotiate and secure contracts with new and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and operations teams to ensure alignment of sales and marketing strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends and stay updated on regulatory changes that may impact the business.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to enhance brand visibility.
  • Prepare and present business proposals, sales forecasts, and regular performance reports to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of the Malaysian food manufacturing market.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Malay and/or Chinese is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Malaysia.

  3. Partnership Development: Successful establishment of strategic partnerships with distributors, suppliers, and retailers.
  4. Market Penetration: Achievement of market share goals in Malaysia, including expansion into new geographic areas.
  5. Contract Negotiation Success: Number and value of successfully negotiated contracts with favorable terms.
  6. Customer Retention: Retention rate of clients and partners acquired, with a focus on long-term relationships.
  7. Pipeline Development: Maintenance of a healthy pipeline of prospects, ensuring consistent growth opportunities.
  8. Budget Adherence: Achievement of sales and expansion goals within the allocated budget.
  9. Reporting Accuracy: Timely and accurate submission of sales forecasts, performance reports, and business proposals.
  10. Market Intelligence: Contribution to company’s strategic decisions by providing actionable insights based on market research and analysis.
