Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Team Leader with a strong background in both technical and managerial aspects to drive key projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role requires a leader who can manage the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a MicroServices platform, ensuring timely and successful project delivery. The ideal candidate should be proficient in API and MicroServices technologies, and able to lead a team of developers, engage with senior management, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy:Lead the overall API/MicroServices design, solution, and integration, aligning with the Data Product Manager and Enterprise Architect.
Provide strategic direction, oversight, and leadership in the development and implementation of the MicroServices platform.
Engage with senior management and project sponsors, building strong relationships to ensure successful cross-group and cross-industry project delivery.
- Project Management:Manage the entire Product/Project lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, construction, testing, acceptance, training, documentation, and implementation.
Conduct business requirement analysis and technical assessments to identify both functional and non-functional requirements.
Participate in pre-project activities, including estimation, budgeting, high-level project planning, staffing, and team organization.
Coordinate and communicate project plans, timelines, and activities with the project team and stakeholders.
Monitor and track project progress, ensuring smooth execution and timely delivery.
Maintain project issue registers, resolving issues in a timely manner and escalating unresolved issues to the PSC team.
- Technical Leadership:Lead a team of developers in the implementation of API/MicroServices using technologies such as Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
Define, configure, and maintain API definitions to ensure secure control and management of APIs, maintaining Swagger definitions.
Build and test APIs for new and existing backend services to support development team migrations.
Document and maintain the MicroServices catalogue, including Detail Design Documents and API Technical Specifications.
- Platform Maintenance & Support:Ensure the MicroServices platform meets SLA requirements, including ongoing enhancement of tools and solutions.
Troubleshoot issues during testing and production, ensuring a smooth and issue-free launch.
Support planned maintenance activities and BAU operations, including emergency maintenance.
- Risk Management & Compliance:Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory compliance, and emerging threats, taking appropriate steps to mitigate risks.
Proactively share best practices in risk management and highlight potential concerns.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience:Minimum of 10 years of professional IT/software engineering experience.
At least 5+ years as a Technical Lead, having led 3-4 projects from scratch, owning solution design and implementation using API/MicroServices.
Strong hands-on experience with API technologies, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Java, Kubernetes, and Docker.
3+ years of experience in leading development teams and managing project delivery.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in Spring Framework, CI/CD tools like Jenkins/Bamboo, Nexus, SonarQube, Bitbucket.
Experience with digital/internet web technologies: RESTful Web Services, SOAP Web Services, ESB, JSON, XML, HTML5, JavaScript.
Strong background in database design and development with SQL & No-SQL databases.
Experience with UNIX, and troubleshooting OS and network issues.
Banking or Insurance industry experience is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Adaptable, self-driven, result-oriented, with a high level of integrity and initiative.
Good to Have:
- Experience in Agile and Waterfall software development practices.
- Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools like Microsoft Project, Confluence, Jira Software, and Kanban Boards.
- Experience in cloud-hosted databases.
