The Manager of Business Systems & Solutions is responsible for leading the implementation and management of the organization’s enterprise software systems and applications. The Manager will oversee a team of IT professionals, work closely with various departments to understand their system requirements, and provide solutions that enhance productivity, streamline operations, and drive digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:Plan, estimate, report, schedule, and manage resources for projects and enhancements in the area of ship and fleet management.
Develop project estimates and complete financial models, including costs, savings, revenue opportunities, and investment horizons.
- Business Needs Definition:Assist in identifying and gathering the business entity’s requirements for information system solutions.
Lead the team’s innovation efforts by introducing new ideas and technologies.
- Solution Design:Develop detailed IT solution/service designs based on functional specifications, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and technical constraints.
Ensure designs align with the architectural roadmap and support service development, execution, and operations.
- Solution Development:Lead the development, configuration, customization, integration, and unit testing of solutions based on functional and technical specifications to meet industry standards and performance requirements.
- Solution Testing:Lead efforts in testing, debugging, and documenting applications.
Validate that solutions meet quality, performance, architectural, and functional requirements.
- Solution Deployment:Lead the implementation of applications by analyzing the current system environment, using technical tools, performing complex product customization, and developing procedures to ensure successful installation of systems hardware/software.
- Solution Maintenance:Plan activities associated with the implementation and maintenance of applications.
Develop and recommend technical strategies and solutions to management.
Maintain, update, and enforce Fleet IT infrastructure standards and policies.
- Asset & Configuration Management:Manage configurations and ensure IT components needed to deliver IT services are identified, accounted for, reported, verified, and audited.
Oversee the day-to-day operations and support of the global fleet infrastructure and applications.
- Customer Relationship Management:Facilitate cross-functional communication among various teams, organizations, and internal and external stakeholders to drive IT initiatives.
- Supplier Management:Collaborate with the Solution Delivery Manager on sourcing to secure the best possible contractual terms.
Develop and maintain a quality-driven preferred supplier list.
- Compliance:Adhere to the company’s policies, Code of Conduct, and Business Ethics (CoBE).
- Cybersecurity:Manage, deploy, and maintain the security infrastructure of vessels.
Liaise with and manage vendors to deliver networking and cybersecurity solutions or services.
Plan and review audits by TMSA and SIRE.
- Additional Responsibilities:Undertake other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years of proven solution design experience in a complex, growing, multi-site, multi-system/application environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in resource, project, and IT budget management.
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Relevant experience in an IT services company is preferred.
- Experience with IT applications and systems used in the shipping industry is required.
- Experience in managing vendors and outsourcing contracts.
- Proven people management skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
