Role Overview:
As a Production Support Specialist, you will oversee the daily operations of technology platforms, including MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Unix. Your role involves identifying and addressing production issues, creating and managing incident and problem tickets, and working closely with development and business operations teams. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run day-to-day operations of technology platforms (MS SQL Server, Oracle, Unix).
- Identify production issues, create incident tickets, enhancements, and problem tickets.
- Communicate effectively with development teams and internal business operations.
- Provide front-line technical support for incident/problem management, release/deployment, and application monitoring.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues using advanced query and programming skills.
- Perform root cause analysis and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Manage production support roles (L1/L2/L3) and utilize monitoring/scheduling tools.
- Handle real-time restoration and triage of issues impacting technical services.
- Collaborate with Technology Infrastructure and Development Teams for releases, upgrades, and server enhancements.
- Identify vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement in production services.
- Develop and enhance policies and procedures, adopting best practices and process improvements.
- Contribute to automation and cross-functional issue resolution.
- Lead production support issues and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to SLAs.
- Serve as an escalation point for unresolved problems and service requests.
- Communicate the status and health of applications to business and management.
Mandatory Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, including JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, MQ Series, Easytrieve, and Tandem.
- Experience with Endeavor and IBM problem determination tools (File Manager, Fault Analyzer).
- Experience in production support (Unix/SQL) and Unix server administration.
- Exposure to IMS DB/DC and REXX.
- Experience in the banking or financial industry.
- Proficiency in Java/J2EE (Core Java, JDBC, EJB), server-side technologies (SOAP/Restful services, XML/XSLT), and microservices (MuleSoft).
- Knowledge of Middleware components (Message Broker, IBM Websphere MQ, JBoss, MuleSoft).
- Strong knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems, with strong scripting skills.
- Experience with Oracle, DB2, and PL/SQL query performance tuning.
- Familiarity with event-driven and schedule-driven batch processes.
