The Laboratory Technologist in the School of Computing will support the development and maintenance of web application systems and web sites. The job scope includes but not limited to :
- Designing, developing, testing, implementing and deploying new application systems application systems
- Documentation of the systems
- Configuration and customisation of packaged solutions
- Report/data generation for business users
- Training and guiding end users in using the systems
- Administering and maintaining websites
> Perform system administration such as OS update, security patching and configuration for the websites
> Perform web designs and contents update for specific websites
- Provide guidance and support to SoC website owners to maintain contents in CMS (such as Wordpress)
Requirements
- Polytechnic Diploma or degree holder in IT/Computing or related disciplines
- Proficient in PHP, CodeIgnitor, Laravel, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5/CSS, Perl, Python, Oracle/SQL
- Knowledge of .Net MVC framework
- Familiar with Linux, Apache Web Server, MySQL (including installation, configuration and security patching)
- Experience in using Power Automate, PowerApps, Power BI, Microsoft Forms
- Experience with CMS coding to handle back-end and front-end developments, including creating WordPress themes and applying security updates.
- Able to diagnose CMS (such as WordPress) errors and solve them
- Able to work independently as well as in a team, with minimal supervision
- Able to program well and is self-motivated to pick up new technical skills and details
- A team player who can work well with all levels of technical and non-technical colleagues
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with Unix environment would be an advantage.
- Knowledge in PC hardware and common software applications.
- Able to perform shift duties if required
- The successful incumbent will be offered an initial 2 years' contract, subject to renewal
