Research Scientist (Power & Energy Systems Modelling)

We are looking for researchers who have a passion for power and energy systems and advancing the growth of sustainable energy. They will develop models and simulations of power and energy systems, analyse their resiliency and efficiency, and optimise their planning, operations, and deployment particularly to address problems relating to the renewable energy transition.

Successful candidates will work together with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop innovative solutions to support decisions around power system planning, energy economics, electricity markets and policy. The project will also involve collaborations with external organisations such as government planners and industry practitioners in order to move research and technical capabilities closer into real-world policy and planning practices.

Key requirements

• Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or Operations Research, or other related fields
• Proficient in programming in Python, and/or Java/C++

Preferred requirements and experience

• Candidate demonstrating a good understanding of the power systems economics, including distribution and transmission operator decision-making processes in different regulatory environments would be highly preferred.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

The Asia Research Institute invites outstanding, active researchers from around the world to work on an important piece of Asia-centred research in the social sciences or humanities.

Apart from the quality of the research proposal, and the applicant’s publication track record, positions will be awarded on the basis of the relationship of their research topic to the identified priorities and themes of ARI’s research clusters as listed in Research Clusters and Their Foci (click here). Major responsibilities as a Research Scientist in IMCB will include hands-on execution of In vitro & in vivo disease model development, validation and experiments to evaluate compounds for efficacy in various animal models of diseases with clinically-relevant endpoints, especially with experience to handle rodents.
