Job Summary
Strategy
• The Senior Risk Manager role exists to support the Commodities market risk management .
• Take a forward-looking perspective, taking into consideration external events which may be material. Ensure appropriate management action is being taken to mitigate their impact.
• To ensure the regulations, Risk Management Framework and internal policies/standards are effectively communicated and implemented.
• Develop proactive engagement with the business, Risk Committees in pursuit of balanced risk / return via discussions on Financial Market risk exposures and limits
• To drive change in the Commodities business in collaboration with other parts of the business, risk and group risk functions..
Business
• To support the Commodities business in the management of Traded Market Risk.
• Engage business on material position, review limits proposal and support new products roll out.
• Highlight key Traded Risk related concerns to various committees and risk forums.
• Contribute to the Group’s annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (‘ICAAP’) for Commodities related positions.
Processes
• To enhance processes within the Traded Risk team to manage the risk of Commodities exposures.
• Advise business in the calibration of limits for Traded Risk controls and review any changes.
• Participate in the submissions and meetings for various forums related to market risk and / or Commodities business.
• Response for the commodities stress shocks for Stress Loss scenarios for risk appetite monitoring and regulatory purpose.
• Monitor the risk taking of the Commodities business to ensure that any breach of risk appetite is followed up promptly.

• Strong analytic abilities and problem-solving skills, able to provide in depth analysis on timely basis in a rapidly changing environment.
• Solid understanding of risk management concepts, techniques, internal/external data modelling, and risk management system platforms.
• Ability to present complex risk issues to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
• Good interpersonal skills, multicultural awareness, and sensitivity
• Develop and leverage a strong network across the three lines of defence and across all businesses and markets
• Always have an eye for Process Improvements and Innovations with an objective to ‘Simplify’, while still maintaining the value delivered
• Commodities market knowledge will be preferred.
Risk Management
• Identify and report material key risks in the Commodities space to senior management and challenge the First Line to evidence that the material risks arising from their business activities have been identified, assessed, monitored, and reported.
• Determine suitable Traded Risk controls to ensure risk taking is within risk appetite.
• Monitor internal and external events material to the trading book and highlight hot spot risk to the management.
• Identify and escalate new and emerging risks that could be material to the Group
• Perform market risk related control, including investigation of all limit excesses and escalating limit breaches.
• Review of data quality of risk factors used for VaR computation
• Support the Group’s annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (‘ICAAP’) Automated Trading workstream
Skills and Experience
Governance
• Support business growth objectives in Commodities, whilst ensuring the business continues to meet risk and control requirements and remains on strategy.
• Develop and maintain risk identification and measurement capabilities which are objective, consistent, appropriate to the business and compliant with applicable regulations. Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues for foreign exchange are reported to the responsible risk governance committees and to the Board Risk Committee
• Work with senior management to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Our Ideal Candidate
· 9+ Years of experience in Risk
· University degree in Finance or some quantitative subject (Science, Engineering)
· Understanding commodities market
· Understanding VAR concepts and investigating VAR changes
· Understand Market Risk sensitivity of financial products
· Experience in IT skills (eg Microsoft Office suite, VBA, past experience with Front Office systems and some database knowledge would also be useful).
· Wide Risk management experience.
· Takes ownership of assigned tasks and can manage mini-projects to final delivery.
