The Role Responsibilities
Strategy
· In Standard Chartered Bank’s Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking (CCIB), we aim to be digital-first and data-driven, delivering enhanced client experiences, driving new wallet share and realizing untapped client value and market opportunities.
· Part of CCIB’s Digital Channels & Data Analytics (DCDA), we are building a complete end to end, digital first client journey from onboarding, transacting to servicing and reporting. We are passionate about developing and delivering Best in Class digital client experience, delivered through consistent, well designed, contextual user journeys across web, desktop and mobile.
· Data is the foundation of Digital. Strong integration of the digital channels & platform strategy with data-driven insights will deliver our ambition on providing best-in-class digital client experience, as well as align the delivery of data-driven insights to both our people-led capabilities (Frontline RMs, Sales) and our digital platform capability via in-app notifications & nudges.
· As the Chief Product Owner for Data Solutions, you are responsible for the product strategy and roadmap for a portfolio of CCIB data solutions & analytics capabilities. You will be tasked in executing on the vision and roadmap through disciplined product development, ensuring delivery, collaboration, and alignment with CCIB business partners, as well as developing a high performing team.
Business
· Develop the strategic direction and roadmap for a portfolio of CCIB data solutions products that maximizes client and business value from data-driven insights, in alignment with the Business Strategy and investment appetite for new strategic business opportunities
· Enable clients to leverage data driven insights to make decisions and rapidly respond and take action.
· Leverage data analytics to address internal business problems across Client Coverage, Transaction Banking and Financial Markets with the goal of maximizing growth and a sustainable P&L.
· Partner with the DCDA Digital Platform team to leverage data as a foundation for best-in-class digital workflow solutions that supports client journeys - from client onboarding, to transacting, to servicing.
· Deliver data-driven insights through our web and mobile channels that create high client engagement, provide value to the business, and contribute to incremental revenue.
· Support the bank’s digital agenda and ensure commercialization and adoption of digital channels and data solutions across CCIB and CPBB.
· Push the boundaries by bringing new ideas that will take the Bank’s digital and capabilities to a new generation of Treasurers, CFOs and Institutional Clients
· Be a culture carrier of the digital agenda and support customers and colleagues in this digital transition.
· Drive innovation and be at the forefront of technology developments, with the aim of making CCIB a leading digital wholesale bank.
· Build capability of the team aligned to the targeted business strategy. You will work with talented team members across DCDA, Transaction Banking, Financial Markets, Client Coverage, CPBB, Technology and Operations to develop data solutions products, all the way from conceptual stage to launch and commercialization.
· Drive best practices in the DCDA product and technology teams to adopt scaled agile delivery to drive outcome-based KPIs and a relentless focus on customer experience.
· Build out a strong team that builds data products that solve real customer problems, in ways that customers love and that work for our business.
· Drive the strategy to streamline processes and controls, enhance productivity, reduce risk and improve speed-to-market of product delivery.
Processes
· Accountable for ensuring appropriate frameworks and operational infrastructures are in place to enable the business processes to be efficient and compliant with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations.
· Ensure tight collaboration with Risk and Control, Compliance, Security and other areas to prevent any issues related to the digital channel access by external and internal clients. Accountable for working with the Group functions to ensure appropriate adherence to principles and policies to protect the bank and its clients.
· The individual plays an essential role to embed Agile development and Human Centered Design practices
· Establish processes which are aligned with the business and operational requirements and in line with the relevant product management responsibility and accountability within the executive teams
People & Talent
· Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations amongst colleagues and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
· Lead with a culture of collaboration, especially with the business lines as internal customers and with a view to increasing ultimate customer satisfaction and NPS.
· Ensure active communication of vision, priorities and progress to the business to foster engagement, awareness and motivation.
· Coach and uplift the team leads to ensure talent development and the ability to operate and excel in an ever-changing professional environment
· Drive a high-performance culture in the team and build a strong talent pipeline
· Lead talent management activity including identifying key talent, growth, upskilling and mobility opportunities.
· Ensure succession planning is in place for critical roles.
Risk Management
· Adherence to all Group Policies and relevant legislation covering credit, operational, reputational risk among others across all asset classes and associated post-trade processes
· Commitment and adherence to Group Code of Conduct
· Ensure product development aligns to internal governance frameworks that sets out the requirements for the design, implementation, and maintenance of data solutions.
· Where material changes are made to existing data solutions, ensure compliance to process change impact assessment and technology change impact assessments are completed.
Governance
· Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight, and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
· Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
· Willingness to ‘speak up’ in the event of any realized or perceived breach of group conduct rules or laws by colleagues
· Willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Our Ideal Candidate
· Keep abreast of and leverage emerging technologies (such as use of Machine Learning), statistical and automation tools (e.g., Python, Tableau, PowerBI) to perform effective descriptive and diagnostic analytics
· 15 + years’ of experience with a proven track record of success in data product management and development, preferably in the area of Corporate and Institutional Banking
· Skills Proven track record in leading and implementing digitalization and/or transformation initiatives in Corporate and Institutional Banking driving adoption of digital and data solutions and increasing share of revenue and/or realising cost efficiencies by leveraging digital and data capabilities.
· An experienced people leader with an ability to build a strong team, encouraging team members to drive personal career development, including strengthening skills through relevant training, learning and development activities.
· Good understanding of the product development lifecycle using Agile Methodology and relevant prior experience in drafting vision statements, epics and user stories, use case documents, solution papers, business workflow documents and high-level functional flows.
· Deep understanding of the corporate banking domain with exposure to various products & business lines across Coverage Banking, Transaction Banking and Financial Markets, as well as experience in working with cross-functional teams in the wholesale bank,
· Proven track record in developing data solutions for the corporate bank at scale – across countries, regions, products & business units.
· A skilled negotiator with an ability to work across all organization levels
· High integrity and personal drive, with a passion for product, technology and services transformation
Role Specific Technical Competencies
· Highly experienced in stakeholder management and working closely with global senior leaders, including business product heads, COOs and CIOs
· Effective and positive written and verbal communications especially when acting as a liaison between departments, internal employees/subordinates and clients.
· Ability to create and deliver effective oral and written presentations/proposals up to a senior level of management.
· Comprehensive solution-oriented thinker when dealing with clients, team members, internal functional departments and upper management.
· Ability to effectively manage and motivate matrix resources to attain organizational goals and influence without direct authority
· Strong project management skills including planning, documenting, communicating and delivering the end result on-time
· Experience in a position of broad collaboration, influence and communication in a large organization.
· Excellent teamwork skills preferably with experience of working in teams spread across functions and geographies
