1. Job Purpose
Perform the technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure the safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
2.1 Process Medication Orders
2.1.1 Process medication orders for inpatient and outpatient dispensing which involves typing of prescription, packing and labeling in accordance with stipulated policies, guidelines and department standard operating procedures
2.1.2 Assist in providing customer service
2.1.3 Perform the following medication reconciliation steps:
· Counting and sorting of patient’s own medications
2.2 Inventory Management
2.2.1 Monitor and maintain inventory stock level of drugs in the area of work:
· Reconciliation of weekly cycle count report
· Monitoring of stock out situations
2.2.2 Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to First-In-First-Out requirement and stipulated storage condition
2.2.3 Perform topping up of omnicell ward stock in the respective wards
2.2.4 Audit pre-packing of medicines to ensure system is robust
2.3 Automated Distribution
2.3.1 Daily Operations – REPACKAGING PROCESS
2.3.1.1 Deblistering of drugs from primary packaging(IPAS & OPAS ONLY)
2.3.1.2 Secondary repackaging/redressing
2.3.1.3 Unit dose repackaging using ATDPS
2.3.1.4 Line clearance
2.3.2 Provides oversight of automation system processes:
2.3.2.1 Ensure that setup of new automated medication dispensing cabinets are correctly done
2.3.2.2 Resolve system transaction problems
2.3.2.3 Ensure repackaged products from external vendor are according to specified quality standards
2.4 Liaise with internal and external parties
2.4.1 Ensure proper coordination of distribution services such as drug supplies and topping-up of omnicell ward stock
2.4.2 Assist in development of software and hardware with vendors for automation processes so as to ensure efficacy and medication safety
SecondaryResponsibilities and Duties (20%)
2.5 ADHOC duties or projects as delegated bysection in charge
2.5.1 Perform billing functions
2.5.2 Provide courteous service to allpatients/customers
2.5.3 Involve in workplace quality improvement projects/activities as and when required
2.5.4 Perform nurse request orders
2.6 Supervise repackaging processes (IPAS &OPAS)
2.6.1 Supervise repackaging of drugs in unit doses or respective packages and bar-coding of products
2.6.2 Resolve problems encountered in repackaging
2.6.3 Perform quality control inspection on repackaged product to meet specified standards
3. Job Specification/Requirements
3.1 Qualification:
3.1.1 Minimum GCE ‘O’ level and/or Polytechnic Diploma (non-Pharmaceutical studies) preferred.
3.2 Skills:
3.2.1 Understands and able to use the in-housecomputer systems.
3.2.2 Able to work independently with minimum supervision and have good initiative
3.2.3 Able to communicate effectively
3.2.4 Able to function effectively as a member of ateam
