The Project Manager is responsible for the successful initiation of the project, plans and organises project schedule and resources, manages the project timelines and budget and attends to customer issues to ensure that the project is effectively and efficiently executed meeting the specifications and standards.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Bidding
Assist the commercial team in the estimation of accurate costing of the project, factoring in the man hours, materials, completion time and any other unforeseen factors.
2. Project Planning
(a) Determine the project specifications after studying the project deliverables, customer requirements, performance standards and technical studies report and prepare cost estimates
(b) Determine the project schedule, calculate the time requirements and plan the project execution
(c) Determine project responsibilities by identifying the project requirements and plan the resources for the project, taking into consideration the knowledge and skills of the project members when deploying the resources
(d) Plan and conduct the project kick-off meeting to officially start the project.
3. Monitoring, Controlling and Reporting
(a) Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, keeping in touch with the project team and resolving problems
(b) Organise and control project and provide status reports to GM, Operations
(c) Manage the project plan by reviewing and advising on design and specifications, and plan and schedule changes if necessary
(d) Recommend/approve expenditures to ensure that the project is within the budget
(e) Prepare project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions
4. Customer Servicing
(a) Attend to issues raised by the client and if necessary involve the stakeholders
(b) Maintain good working relationship with the client throughout the project
5. Project Closure
(a) Assist and prepare the Work Completion Report (WCR) for the completed jobs
(b) Monitor and follow up the flow of Work Completion Report (WCR) and invoicing, ensuring invoice are issued accurately and in a timely manner.
6. People Management
(a) Supervise, coach and guide the team and ensure that they meet the stipulated project targets and other company goals
(b) Instilling a culture of continuous improvement in system & processes, operations, project delivery, quality and cost management
(c) Drive the transformation of employee mindset and shaping of employee behaviour to achieve alignment towards Company’s vision and values
7. Additional Duties
(a) Work closely with the management and other departments collaboratively, ensuring that the work is at the highest standard
(b) Provide constructive feedback and ideas/solutions to improve company’s standards
(c) Maintain good documentation and adhere to the safety, quality and regulatory requirements as well as SOPs
(d) Participate and contribute to the ISO and WSH committee
(e) Perform any other duties as assigned by the management.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
(a) Diploma/Degree or equivalent in a technical field (Engineering, Mechanical, Civil Engineering)
(b) Familiarity with marine construction
(c) Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience in shipyard
