Operations Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the daily operations of our ship cleaning company. This role requires a hands-on leader who is experienced in managing operational processes, ensuring quality standards, and leading a diverse team to ensure timely and efficient cleaning services for maritime vessels. The Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while managing resources, personnel, safety protocols, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the ship cleaning division, ensuring services are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Coordinate with port authorities, ship owners, and crews to schedule cleaning operations with minimal disruption to vessel schedules.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of cleaning crew members, supervisors, and operational staff.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, motivation, and accountability.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement training programs to enhance team skills and safety practices.
Customer & Client Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction with our ship cleaning services.
- Respond to client inquiries, concerns, and special requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor customer feedback and develop action plans to address any areas of improvement.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and maritime industry requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments on cleaning processes and staff practices.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe working conditions at all times.
Resource & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and proper utilization of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and inventory levels.
- Ensure that all operational assets are in good working condition and replace faulty equipment promptly.
Budgeting & Cost Management:
- Assist in the development of budgets for ship cleaning operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising service quality.
- Monitor and control costs related to labor, materials, and equipment to meet financial targets.
- Identify areas for process improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and present regular operational reports to senior management, including key performance indicators (KPIs), service delivery metrics, and incident reports.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning operations, client contracts, service agreements, and financial transactions.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on data analysis and feedback.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Maritime Studies, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the maritime or facilities cleaning industry.
- Proven experience in managing teams, logistics, and operations in a service-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with ship cleaning standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and knowledge of scheduling software or ERP systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of maritime safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or a related field.
- Knowledge of maritime industry regulations and compliance standards (IMO, MARPOL).
