As a Patent/ IP Paralegal, you will support patent associates in patent process and other IP matters. The overall goal is to support Horizon IP in achieving its business objectives as well as the objectives of its clients.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
· Develop a solid knowledge of the businesses of Horizon IP’s clients and how Horizon IP can support its clients in order to achieve their business and IP objectives.
· Manage IP portfolio of designated clients, including reporting and docking of due dates of client matters.
· Develop an in-depth understanding of patent and trademark prosecution procedures and laws of US, Singapore, China, EPO, international treaties (PCT and Madrid) as well as other jurisdictions and work with foreign associates, where applicable, to manage IP portfolio of Horizon IP’s clients.
· Perform patentability and trademark searches according to client’s instructions.
· Conduct Freedom-to-Operate (“FTO”) analysis and various legal, technical and business inputs required to complete an FTO analysis and the data and its significance in the patent database fundamental contract law.
· Docketing of client matters in database and generating reports of client matters
· Generate weekly due date lists of client matters.
· Editing of documents generated by associates.
REQUIRED Skills
· Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
· Good understanding of Various Patent and Trademark Databases (Google patents, USPTO, IPOS, EPO and WIPO)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 3 – 5 years of relevant experience
· Proficient in area of responsibility
· Highly self-motivated
· Multi-language proficiency (English and Chinese)
