1. 3. Overall supervision of all Superintendents in the assigned fleet.

5. Ensures that approved budgets are maintained by closely checking the day-to-day expenses of the vessels and by monitoring inventory control of stores and spares. 6. Ensures that Superintendents carry out routine vessel inspections as stipulated and submit inspection reports. 12. To ensure handling of insurance matters for his fleet ships is conducted as per guided in Technical Department Procedures. S/He shall be familiar with deductibles, claims and communications requirements of H&M and P&I Policy for ships under his charge in order to guide superintendents. S/He shall also ensure preparations of necessary documentation pertaining to Hull and Machinery and P&I insurance claims for the vessels and forward these to the underwriters through accounts department for processing of claims.
13. To carry out periodical inspection of vessels as directed by Director/Assistant Director, Technical, prepare a detailed report; formulate an up-gradation plan and follow-up progress with the Superintendent and the vessel.
14. To instruct/ assist Superintendents prepare repair specifications and coordinate with various repair firms for effecting major repairs, if any, during the voyage without incurring delay to vessel.
15. For matters pertaining to accident handling, equipment breakdown and safety and pollution prevention aspects, act as the link between the vessel and the office.
16. To monitor the assigned fleet to ensure compliance with all the applicable legal requirements.
17. To ensure that vessels under his control (including the officers and crew members) diligently comply with the Environment Management System including the Engineering requirements.
18. To review the performance and adequacy of shipboard Equipment used for the processing of waste streams and propose any modifications, upgrades or replacements that may be necessary.

Impact

The General Accounting function is not merely engaged in processing transactions but facilitates the aggregation of data in computer systems to enable meaningful performance report to be prepared. Failure in doing so may results in erroneous presentation of data and trends to Senior Management for decision-making purpose.

Key Responsibility Areas :

General Accounting

• Process cash and non-cash journals timely and accurately in NFS and ILMS; and initiate corrective actions to re-post journals where necessary to maintain accurate accounts.

• Maintain Master Data in ILMS and NFS in a timely and accurate manner. (ie. cost centres, sub-account codes, exchange rate, Interpreter Master Data, Vendor Master, Asset Master, Block Billing Accounts in NFS, GL Master Data and chartfields)

• Resolve and re-process journals stuck in the Re-processing table in the ILMS so that all NFS journals are successfully interfaced to ILMS. This involves working with ILMS vendor to resolve technical errors or HTDs to resolve budget errors as required.

• Help with the period-end reconciliations and period-end activities.

Help in the consolidation and preparation of period-end returns, reports and submissions.

• Update crew matrix for tanker vessels.
• Arrange officer briefings via video/audio-link or in-person at specified locations.
• Verify invoices from port agents and the Statement of General Expense (SGA).
• Manage crew travel arrangements (CTM).
• Perform additional assigned ad-hoc duties as needed.

Requirements:
