Specifically, the SMART-T5 project seeks to develop innovative machine learning algorithms that nudge human activities to maximize the growth of social capital and economy. The Antimicrobial Resistance Interdisciplinary Research Group (AMR IRG) is a unique translational research and entrepreneurship program aimed at solving the growing threat of resistance to antimicrobial drugs. In synch with the National Strategic Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance, the AMR IRG was launched in January 2018 as a research programme funded by the National Research Foundation, under its Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) programme.

We are looking to expand our team of multi-disciplined metrologists and scientists to support our research programme in next-generation atomic clocks. The applicant will work closely with a leading R&D team from the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), NUS where the use of singly-ionized lutetium (Lu+) for optical clock applications has been pioneered and its key atomic properties relevant to clock performance has been established. This Lu+ ion has a unique atomic structure supporting a total of three clock transitions with extremely low sensitivities to external electromagnetic fields, making it a globally competitive frequency standard with recent measurements demonstrating its capability for fractional inaccuracies at the level of 10-18 and beyond.

Successful applicant will join our Time & Frequency Laboratory and be responsible to develop a broad range of solutions that enable progress in cutting-edge science of optical clocks that could lead to the SI Second being redefined. Together with the team from CQT, NUS, the applicant will take the ownership to jointly develop a Lu+ optical clock.

More specifically, the applicant will be involved in the design and development of atom/ion experimental setups, including frequency stabilized laser systems, data acquisition systems and software for experimental control & analysis. What will you be doing?

• Providing day-to-day support to the APAC Research team and resolving any operational issues
• Escalating material issues and concerns to local and global management
• Liaising with infrastructure including Legal, HR, Audit, Compliance, BCM, and Technology
• Overseeing the offshore team in managing Research revenue under MIFID II unbundling rules as well as Research APAC Risk and Control agenda
• Representing Research at APAC regional meetings and forums

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s or a degree holder
• Thorough understanding of sell-side Research, knowledge of Banking and Financial Products
• Detailed knowledge of regulatory concepts impacting Research in key markets (US, EU, UK, APAC)
• Prior experience and knowledge of Risk and Controls frameworks in financial institutions as well as invoicing and collecting revenue under MIFID II unbundling rules

• You will perform a wide variety of diagnostic tests on patient specimens and report results of the tests according to established protocols to help clinicians diagnose, treat diseases, and monitor therapy.
• You will also perform receiving and sorting of specimens, assessing suitability of specimens for testing, data entry of test requests, and rejection of specimens that are unsuitable for testing.
• You will participate in quality assurance and quality control programmes in the Section, assists in phlebotomy for inpatients, assists in providing on-the-bench training for new staff and attachment students, assists in initiatives to review and improve processes within the Section to achieve organisational goals, and supports the Section Leader in operational and administrative matters.
• You will also be expected to perform procedures and tests in the specialist outpatient clinics and inpatient wards.

Requirements

• Preferably Bachelor's Degree and above in Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Haematology, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or any other equivalent qualification

The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Singapore Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS). Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from the emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial biofilm communities and microbiomes.

The focus of this project is to develop scientific understanding and applications to secure the ecological resilience of coral reefs in the context of a tropical urban port environment. SCELSE is seeking a research fellow to identify bacteria and microbiomes that enhance coral health and resilience. The candidate should be a talented marine microbiologist with experience working with marine organisms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and sample resilient and sensitive corals by SCUBA diving in Singapore waters
• Using cultivation and molecular techniques to identify individual bacteria and microbiomes from resilient corals
• Perform manipulative aquarium experiments to investigate the effect of individual bacteria and microbiomes on coral

Job Requirements:

• PhD in marine microbiology or marine microbial ecology or coral ecology
• Competent in molecular microbiology, bacterial physiology and bioinformatics
• Ability to perform DNA and RNA manipulation (e.g., extraction, purification, QC) for genomics and molecular community analysis
