Responsibilities:

The candidate will fabricate optoelectronic sensors including glass cleaning, glass cutting, and hole drilling. Furthermore, the candidate will perform basic chemistry such as preparing electrolytes and dye solutions, carry out electric characterizations of the sensors, analyze the measured data, take care of laboratory consumables inventory, as well as write reports/publications.

The Smart and Sustainable Building Technologies (SSBT) team under Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) focuses on building energy modelling and simulation, decarbonization strategies for the built environment and R&D of green building technologies such as HVAC systems, lighting systems, building management systems and other novel solutions for the urban built environment sector. We seek a dynamic person with a PhD in engineering, sustainable buildings design or architecture, and a positive attitude to be a core member of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. You will need to actively support SSBT projects at ERI@N in terms of project R&D, technology evaluation & consultancy, project coordination, and customer interfacing.

2. The role will include the following:

• Perform as senior technical lead for SSBT projects involving industry partners, government agencies and/or external collaborators.
• Provide inputs for conceptualization of research proposals related to sustainable urban solutions, green buildings, low-carbon district level solutions and agritech applications.
• Lead in preparation and submission of new research proposals or tenders.
• Leverage on extensive experience in academia, industry or public sector agencies to establish multi-disciplinary research collaborations.
• Guide technical analysis and research on energy modelling and simulation for green building and sustainable farming systems.
• Mentor junior team members to achieve positive research outcomes and project objectives.
• Engage stakeholders at management and working levels internally as well as with external funding agencies, collaborators and industry partners, including delivering presentations and guiding discussions or workshops as necessary.
• Co-lead in authoring of technical publications for research projects.

3. You will be an integral part of the SSBT team and will need to lead or participate in project discussions especially related to project implementation details.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in engineering (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Clean/Renewable Energy, Building or IT related), sustainable buildings design or architecture.
• Experience in sustainable design/analysis for the built environment, Green Mark or LEED projects, M&E construction and development (min 5yrs preferred).
• Proficient in MS Office applications, BIM software, energy modelling or CFD software.
• Should be a very hands-on person, willing to take on non-routine tasks.
• Possess good communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Able to manage multiple stakeholders and work under tight timelines.
• Positive attitude, ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Familiarity with green building technology, HVAC system study and optimization, sustainable building design, building energy modelling, CFD modelling and BIM for built environment applications is preferred.

A postdoctoral research scholar position is available at Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The main role is to design and fabricate novel soft gripping systems. Potential candidates should be able to independently conduct research with strong self-motivation and exploration spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform multiphysics modeling and simulation of soft grippers.
• Fabricate soft gripper components and structures using advanced manufacturing techniques, specifically 3D printing and other photopolymerization-based methods, ensuring the materials meet the required mechanical properties for effective and flexible gripping.
• Characterize the mechanical properties of soft materials and structures, utilizing expertise in mechanical design and characterization, to ensure reliability and efficiency in real-world applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the SGSR CREATE Programme and potentially with external partners, to integrate the multi-mode sensing array into the soft gripper system for enhanced functionality.
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences .
• Contribute to the mentoring and guidance of junior researchers and students, fostering an environment of learning and innovation within the project team.

Job Requirements:

• Candidates should hold a Ph.D. Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• Expertise in mechanical engineering, soft materials, interface and surface structure.
• Solid knowledge in advanced manufacturing of soft structures.
