Position summary:
The LNG Trading Analyst role supports the LNG Trading Team in Gas Supply and Trading (GSAT), with primary responsibility of profit & loss (P&L) and exposure gatekeeping for the trading books.
Expected to be a role that will allow the incumbent to progressively get a wider and deeper understanding of the GSAT business and develop skills and knowledge over time that would make them suitable for many other roles and career paths within GSAT and with the wider Business & Commercial function.
The Trading Analyst reports to GSAT Commercial Business Manager; and works closely with the LNG Traders, Commercial and Business Analysts, Risk Control, Finance and IT teams.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Actively contributes as part of a regional trading team through deal entry, analysis and reporting
- Input daily trade data into Chevron Trading Systems (Endur) for various types of deals, ensuring timely communication of trade details to all relevant stakeholders and compliance with timeline requirements
- Verify deals entered into EndurTrading Systems by Traders, check for accuracy and completeness.
- Input revisions to existing trades as advised by Traders, align trades for allocations and actualizations as cargo status changes
- Perform daily analysis and reporting of P&L, exposure and mark to market (MTM) to advise and explain business performance
- Understand and effectively communicating daily MTM and P&L swing drivers
- Fluency with exposure reconciliation , MTM tracking and monthly inventory forecasts
- Generate reports from the Endur Trading System for analysis of daily volumetric changes, discrepancies, and P&L changes
- Assist in ad hoc reporting, new counterparties onboarding, know your customer (KYC) requests.
- Lead, participate and engage in efforts to drive modernization, process simplification, new tools integration and implement process improvements utilising new digital solutions
- Participate in special ad-hoc projects (eg. system upgrades such as Endur enhancements, automation and fundamentals analysis)
- Involvement in business planning activities to support Commercial Business Manager
- Mentor and provide commodity coverage for other LNG TAs
- Build very strong partnerships with Risk Control & basic understanding of VAR/GARM
- Travel might be needed on an ad hoc basis to cover for other TAs and/or training purposes
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Team player and ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Proven time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
- Excellent communication skills, some level of mentoring, coaching, leadership experience desirable
- High level of Excel proficiency
- Digital mindset and innovative thinker
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Endur preferred/ highly desirable
- Power BI experience
