Overview
Applied Materials New College Graduates (NCG) Program is a 16-month inter-department training program with the aim to nurture future leader for Applied’s Global Supply Chain organization. The NCG program consists of structured training modules providing learning opportunities through classroom trainings and interactions with experienced colleagues. The participants will rotate through positions in Purchasing, Sourcing, and Commodity Management, all while developing the technical and business skills required to be successful in the Supply Chain organization.
General Profile
Performs routine assignments in the entry level to a professional job progression. Typically has knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Receives instruction, guidance and direction from other team members.
Key Responsibilities
Engages new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements to/from the Applied Materials supply base.
Supports the maintenance of agreements with suppliers that provide the structure for all business relationships between Applied Materials and the supply base.
Develops strategies to procure components at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
Assists in creation of commodity road maps and implements commodity strategies.
Supports new product development program and PLC process to ensure alignment with Applied’s commodity strategies.
Drives material cost reduction projects. Activities include but not limited to supplier negotiations, collaboration with engineering on design optimization and should costing.
Assists in supplier price and delivery negotiations; under direct supervision may negotiate contracts as necessary.
Utilizes the preferred supplier selection and assessment process when selecting suppliers; Completes supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts; Monitors supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost).
Drives resolution to systematic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery or lead-time.
Drives initiatives on process improvement, optimization and digitalization of work processes within GSC community.
Under direct supervision, forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers. Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
Review and resolve material shortages to ensure continuity of production activities.
Provides input to outsourcing decisions by performing make versus buy analysis.
Requirements
Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, Data Analytics or related field
Proficiency in developing effective executive reports and presentations
Proficiency in Microsoft office tools
Excellent listening, writing, quantitative, qualitative and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact cross-organizationally
Ability to problem-solve creatively and analytically
Detail-oriented; ability to multi-task; deadline-oriented
