Our client is a global payment platform connecting banks. It is formed by a consortium of a few renowned brand names in the FI industry.
Acknowledging that the future of global payments is on the cusp of a fundamental shift, this technology firm was set up last yr to develop an open industry platform to reimagine and accelerate value movements for payments, trade and foreign exchange settlement in a new digital era.
Designed as a global shared ledger, the firm aims to disrupt the traditional cross-border payment by leveraging on blockchain technology to reduce current frictions and latency, minimizing post transaction exception handling and reconciliation activities.
Key distinguishing features are around privacy solution, complete decentralized hosting and consensus efficiency – providing a commercial scalability which enables it to be a platform of choice for hosting multiple CBDCs and commercial bank digital currencies.
To encourage broad participation across the banking industry, the firm will be actively engaging leading banks to join the platform to establish the scale required to benefit the industry. It is now looking to hire a Head of Business Development to spearhead this function.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will work in a BD function covering a specific region alongside with your other BD colleagues. Your key responsibilities are as follows:
- Lead all business development and client engagement activities globally
- Ensure business growth to meet the firm’s 3 years and 5 years business objectives
- Responsible for global network and client strategy.
- Collaborate with internal product, architect and engineering teams to provide industry and client requirements
- Responsible for global sales strategies, building pipeline, sales forecasting and revenue
- Represent the firm to speak at industry events
- Support the firm’s thought leadership, the development of white papers, content, value proposition
- Manage and lead high performing business development team
Key Professional Requirements
- Above 10 years of successful business development experience and at least 5 years in engaging with wholesale banks or licensed financial institutions. Has relevant experience networking with banks as clients.
- Added experience gained with blockchain or payment services is a huge plus.
- Prior experience working with a start up role/co is also preferred but not a must
- Demonstrable success in developing client relationship in the wholesale banking sector at the “C suite’ level and across the organization.
- Successfully met financial targets and KPI’s in current and previous roles.
- Experience in solution selling across Wholesale banks will be a differentiator.
- Exposure in either transaction banking, payments and/or blockchain, will be preferred but not a must
- An effective communicator at senior executive levels across front, middle and back offices, as well as technology.
- Experience in contributing to thought strategy and thought leadership.
