The Role Responsibilities
Director, Private Banking Finance would Manage regional Private Banking financial performance. This will include planning, performance management and providing advisory to relevant stakeholders to improve business performance and to achieve agreed goals and targets.
Responsibilities for this finance role cover following areas within CPBB:
- Private Banking segment for a specific internal region covering teams located in Singapore, UK and UAE
Strategy
Director, Private Banking Finance should have thorough awareness and understanding of the CPBB affluent business strategy and be able to help execute this to specific Private Banking regional context.
This includes:
· Partnering with regional head, market head and business management team in review, update and implementation of specific strategy for the region and markets covered within the region
· Alignment of this strategy and related financial impact with regional teams and CFO, Affluent and Wealth
Business Planning and Analysis
· Advice Private Banking regional head on financial performance, profitability, returns and highlighting areas of opportunity and early warnings of the challenges ahead
· Track financial and non-financial performance and momentum regularly
· Develop and implement financial and non-financial value drivers and regular measurement / analytics to identify client profitability, returns, product margins, momentum in new sales, new clients etc
· Conduct client segment and product deep dives to identify opportunities to improve income and returns; utilise these insights to formulate new strategies with business stake holders and partners
· Lead regional PvB Corporate Plan aligned with strategic direction across all markets
· Partner with business and finance teams in markets to evaluate financial performance (profitability, returns, RM productivity), execute plans to improve market share, tactical and strategic actions to increase profitability
· Contribute to performance reporting and analysis for CPBB Management Business Review (MBR)
· Periodically review SCB performance with competitors and analyse relative strength and opportunity
· Effectively manage costs and take appropriate prioritisation decisions to achieve cost efficiencies
· Support business on understanding and effective appropriate usage of various financial views- Enhanced F view transition, Management view and Franchise view
Processes
Oversee following processes:
· Review of flash, outlook, forecasting and monthly performance for the business in coordination with finance and business teams in the market and GFS
· Smooth and efficient corporate plan process and other internal finance processes specially forecasting alignment across region, country and Market/ Financial view interlock.
· Regular report and tracking financials and non-financial value drivers in coordination with analytics team.
People & Talent
· Work effectively and collaboratively with finance/ non finance colleagues within CPBB group finance, country finance, business heads and offshore teams
· Ensure ongoing training and self-development for both current role and future aspirations from a career perspective
Risk Management
· Coordinate regular review with Risk and Product team on Mortgage and WM Lending portfolios to ensure appropriate risk-return pricing and capital deployment
· Review Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) performance vis-à-vis balance sheet growth and product/ client returns for the Affluent segments
· Regular review, reporting and understanding of loan impairment related to lending portfolios and calculation approach/ policy thereon
· Ensure compliance with Group Accounting Principles and practices, Financial Control policy, and other regulatory accounting guidelines
· Understanding of various regulatory requirement (eg Basel III/IV) and implementation of the same appropriately by working with Product teams in group and markets
Governance
· Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations to the role
· Represent the Finance function at key CPBB Business forums and escalating any issues that may impact finance responsibilities

Our Ideal Candidate
· 8+ years relevant experience in business finance at a leading global financial services firm, preferably banking.
· Qualified Accountant i.e., CPA, CMA, ACCA or equivalent, or MBA (Finance) or other relevant qualification is preferred
· Track record of business partnering and ability to influence and effectively challenge stakeholders
· Strong understanding and/ or previous experience in Private Banking would be helpful.
· Proven problem solver using quantitative techniques, strong analytical skills with ability to develop proof of concept frameworks and business cases
· Excellent communication skills to effectively manage varied stakeholders and global teams within finance and business.
