The Assistant Head at the Family Service Centre (FSC) plays a crucial leadership role in the overall management and delivery of services to families in need. This position is responsible for program oversight, staff management, and ensuring the highest standards of service and ethical practice.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Management
- Support the strategic planning, development, and execution of policies and procedures, contributing actively to decision-making processes.
- Assist in manpower planning and workload distribution to maximize the efficient use of resources.
- Supervise and mentor senior social workers and other staff, overseeing performance management and facilitating professional staff development.
- Contribute to program development and evaluation, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals and service delivery standards.
- Assist in establishing a risk management framework for the center.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements, implementing quality assurance processes to uphold service excellence.
Community Engagement and Development
- Conduct community needs assessments to identify service gaps, driving informed decision-making on program development and resource allocation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, representing the agency in community and professional networks.
- Lead outreach and advocacy initiatives to address community needs and promote resource access.
Casework and Supervision
- Provide oversight and guidance for complex and high-risk cases, including supervision of case reviews and documentation through SSNET or other systems.
- Offer clinical supervision and support to social workers, ensuring adherence to best practices in service delivery.
Research and Evaluation
- Identify and oversee research projects to enhance service delivery where relevant.
- Co-lead program evaluations, measuring impact and informing strategic planning and program development.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Assist with day-to-day operational management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and facilities oversight.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting and maintain comprehensive documentation of service activities.
Other Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide crisis management support and consultation to staff during off-hours as needed.
- Lead special projects, assignments, or programs for the agency, when required.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the HOD or senior leadership.
Candidate Profile:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work / Psychology / Counselling or related discipline.
- Post graduate qualification in Management / Human Resource / Public Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including a proven track record in social service organizations and program management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in strategic planning, implementation, and resource management.
- Up-to-date knowledge and expertise in social work practices and ethical standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Highly organized, with effective time management and multitasking skills.
