The incumbent will oversee the design, planning, coordinating, organization, implementation and evaluation of the Worship & Music – Audio Visual (“AV”) programmes, activities and workstreams.
This role will involve people management responsibilities and require the individual to work a 5.5-day week; including weekends and occasionally work on evenings. Appropriate rest day and time-off-in-lieu will be granted.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee the AV team in their organisation, implementation, execution, and management of programmes and activities and operations and workstreams of the AV team. These include pre-service, in-service, post-service, and maintenance workstreams, such as rehearsals, tech runs, sounds checks, livestream monitoring, troubleshooting, etc.
2. Oversee the AV team in their investigation, evaluation, selection, procurement, installation, deployment, operation, and maintenance of technical equipment and infrastructure to serve the AV needs of the church’s multiple and multi-site worship services. These equipment and infrastructure include but are not limited to: amplifiers, sound mixers, video cameras, video mixers, stage lighting, lighting mixers, livestream software, related hardware, subscriptions and licenses, etc.
3. Regularly assess the AV needs of the congregation and the church’s multiple and multi-site worship services.
4. Proactively consider, research, and assess the evolving needs of the AV, and develop strategies for short- and long-term effectiveness and fruitfulness, always in line with the church’s vision and direction.
5. Recommend, design, and evaluate strategies and structures that support the church’s AV needs in an optimal and sustainable manner. Such strategies and structures should consider technical, manpower, and cultural needs and resources.
6. Develop and oversee sustainable long-term strategy to recruit, train, and develop volunteers and lay leaders to take on the role of AV volunteers.
7. Oversee the sourcing, recommendation, development, evaluation, and implementation of tools, courses, and materials to serve the church’s AV needs, including the needs of AV volunteers.
8. Maintain an awareness of the spiritual health of AV volunteers, and where needed, provide or direct them to pastoral care.
9. Ensure sound ministry budgeting and financial management by the AV team.
10. Ensure compliance with church policies and guidelines by the AV team.
11. Develop and sustain a positive team culture of trust, collaboration, and mutual support.
12. Perform people management responsibilities such as evaluation of team staffing requirements, review of performance appraisals and development needs, and conducting career conversations.
13. Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
Diploma, degree or postgraduate certification in the areas of worship, music, audio and visual production or other closely-related fields.
Desirable:
- Certification in Leadership, Management or other closely-related fields.
- Diploma, degree or postgraduate certification in the areas of Theology, Divinity, Christian Education, or closely-related fields.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSET
Essential:
- At least 4 years of relevant working experience and personal involvement in the areas of worship & music and/or AV production.
- Working level knowledge of technical elements of Audio-Visual systems and workflows. Specialist technical knowledge is not an essential requirement for this managerial role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate others.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and drive collaboration between different stakeholder groups.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to guide others to resolve conflicts professionally and with humility and respect.
Desirable:
- Previous involvement in strategic planning or a similar function.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to leverage new technologies, where appropriate.
