Established in 2007, the SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS) provides high quality undergraduate and graduate education expanding SMU’s pedagogical strategy to the study of society, government, and individuals embedded within an increasingly complex world. With faculty expertise and research spanning the disciplines of psychology, political science, sociology, and philosophy, SOSS’s research covers key thematic areas such as international development, policy and politics, Southeast Asian studies, social movements, and sustainability. It currently has a PhD programme in Psychology and a professional Master’s in Sustainability, with plans to expand its taught postgraduate offerings into other disciplines as part of its growth plan. Position

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Education Track) position in Sociology to begin in July 2025. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses across several major areas of sociology.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of excellent teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in sociology. We are especially seeking a candidate able to teach an outstanding introductory undergraduate course in Sociology. Additionally, we would value the ability to contribute courses on Southeast Asia, Singaporean society, sustainability, community development, and Asian identities. Candidates should also have an established or developing track record of excellent research.

Singapore Management University is committed to an interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum, providing opportunities to work with faculty across the social sciences. The research support is excellent, and salary and benefits are competitive. The standard teaching load is six units per year and undergraduate classes are capped at no more than 45 students.

Candidate Criteria

Applicants must have:

· Evidence of excellence and innovation in teaching delivery.

· Teaching experience in a variety of core and specialised sociology courses, at the undergraduate and/or post-graduate levels.

· Excellent communication skills.

· The ability to work in a team with colleagues across a variety of social science disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, debug, and test-run customized modular machines.
• Handle the commissioning of these machines.
• Provide technical support at customer locations to ensure proper equipment operation.
• Implement design improvements to simplify designs, reduce parts, and use cost-effective alternatives, while maintaining or enhancing product performance.
• Procure or assist in procuring necessary items to perform the above duties effectively.
• Write and maintain all required documentation, including work and assembly instructions, as well as manufacturing and test procedures.

• Nitec, Higher Nitec, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, jigs, fixture design, FMEA, SPC, and CAD as well as experience in machine design are added advantages.

• Willingness to travel as required.

Our client is a global shipping MNC (based in town and is around 8 min walk from the nearest MRT station in town). The co allows for a WFH arrangement up to 2 times a week (after the employee completes the probation period).

Summary: As an Assistant Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing group of companies accounting functions at the group accounting level. This includes statutory compliance (Audit, Tax, etc.) and reporting to upper management. You will also handle ad hoc projects involving business expansion and accounting system enhancement.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Drives the preparation of group financial statements as well as entity financial statements of the companies within the group in accordance with IFRS and SFRS.
• Liaises with the Auditor on audit issues and their resolutions.
• Prepares GST report, income tax schedules and review income tax computation prepared by tax agents.
• Compiles and submits periodic management reports.
• Prepares annual budget/quarterly forecast.
• Performs bookkeeping.
• Oversees certain companies’ manpower and administrative expenses.
• Oversees the Group’s agency business.
• Provides required assistance to Group Accounting Manager when needed.
• Participates in ad hoc projects.

Requirements:

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, or similar specialization from a recognized university.
• Around 3 to 7 years of total experience.
• Audit experience and consolidation reporting at group level is a must.
• Has experience doing full sets of accounts.
• Added tax computation exp is a plus (but not a must)
• Has good interpersonal and communication skills. Has the ability to work as a finance business partner in a group accounting role.
• Hands-on
• Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
• Open to working some occasional long hours (to clear backlog) at times
