Position Objective:
The role of the Visual Arts Teacher is essentially to build and maintain a successful visual arts program within the school. This includes teaching artistic skills and techniques through a standards based inquiry approach to students from grades 1 to 5 in conjunction with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.
Responsibilities:
The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, they must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Cognita Regional Safeguarding Manager so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
Music:
â—Ź Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes and age groups
â—Ź Development of individual instructional programs.
â—Ź Classroom management
â—Ź Introduce cultural aspects of art to students, in relation to the nationalities represented at the school.
â—Ź Provide evaluation and documentation of student progress
â—Ź Adhere to the SAIS teacher guidelines
â—Ź Working collaboratively with the art team to plan and built the curriculum
â—Ź Working closely with grade teachers to establish optimal support for students and assess their development and needs
General:
â—Ź To teach any classes as deemed necessary.
â—Ź To provide any other reasonable duties delegated by the Head of Art and the Principal
Position Requirements:
â—Ź At least 3 years of experience in working with children as an Art teacher with relevant qualifications.
â—Ź PYP Art teaching experience is preferred.
â—Ź Curriculum development knowledge is required.
â—Ź Possess highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skill
â—Ź Excellent verbal and written English skills
â—Ź Good references on request
â—Ź Proficient in using computers
● At least two years’ international teaching experience
● Demonstrates the Stamford Values – Courage, Ingenuity, Compassion, Integrity
Qualifications:
● Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent is required
● Master’s degree in Elementary Education or relevant field preferred
â—Ź Professional current teacher licensure or certification is required

Working Conditions:

â—Ź Working hours 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, plus occasional staff meetings and training. Attend Monday weekly meetings from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
â—Ź Full time faculty member responsibilities such as supervision duties, CCAs and privileges apply.
