Job Overview

We are looking for a Manager to join our Asia Pacific Actuarial team based in Singapore. In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team and you will have an outsized influence on the strategic direction of the practice.

In this role you will: a) be part of our Oliver Wyman Asia Pacific Actuarial team closely working with the team in Hong Kong on projects in Asia Pacific, b) work with our US Actuarial team, and c) collaborate closely with our existing Oliver Wyman Insurance Consulting, Mercer Consulting and broader Marsh McLennan teams in Singapore.

The Manager will play a key role in the delivery of projects for Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, regulators, and private equity firms.

Potential projects may include:

• Creation and analysis of financial projections
• Insurance mergers & acquisitions
• Capital markets transactions support
• Product development
• Financial reporting
• Pricing assumption
• Model methodology review
• Potential responsibilities may include:
• Participate in client sales meetings
• Client and industry presentations, surveys, case studies
• Work in partnership with our management consulting and strategy practice
• Contribute to sales revenue through developing proposals and delivering client pitch meetings

Skills and Attributes

• Strong preference for candidates with prior consulting and client management experience
• FSA/FIA or equivalent actuarial credentials with 8+ years of professional experience
• Track record of rapid learning, high performance, and professional growth
• Knowledge of the life insurance market in Singapore and Southeast Asia, including insurance regulations or reporting bases, such as Singapore RBC2, IFRS-17, etc.
• Strong preference for expertise in actuarial modeling software (e.g. Prophet or Moody’s Analytics AXISTM)
• Strong preference for recent experience supporting in IFRS 17 implementations in Singapore including direct hands-on experience on all aspects of UAT and IFRS 17 production
• Personal hands-on experience providing M&A actuarial due diligence experience for insurance clients
• Personal hands-on experience performing indexed universal life product development and pricing for insurers in Singapore
• Personal experience on market strategy, market entry planning, product strategy projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

This role will oversee the development, revision, and execution of polices related to health, safety, environmental practise, and quality assurance, ensuring they align with the local and global regulations in the shipping industry.

The role:

• Confirm that the HSEQ team finishes pre-vetting for SIRE inspections and that the Marine/Technical Department resolves all identified issues.
• Risk management and assessments of the daily shipping operations.
• Providing solutions and safety measures for operations, vessels, cargo, and staff.
• Overseeing adherence to applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, standards, and certifications, including the ISM (International Safety Management) Code, ISO standards, regional regulations.
• Provide training and development programs to personnel (office and crew staff) for health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
• Organizing the annual Safety Seminar for officer and shipboard personnel and managing the editorial content for all safety circulars and newsletters.
• Conducting investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental spills to determine root causes. Implementing corrective and preventive measures to avoid future occurrences and reporting incidents to the relevant authorities as per regulatory requirements.
• Creating and updating emergency response plans for scenarios including oil spills, fires, collisions, groundings, and medical emergencies. Ensuring crew members are adequately trained and equipped to handle emergencies effectively.
• Ensuring shipping operations minimise the waste, controlling emissions, and compliance to control the environmental pollution.
• Liaise with vendors and ensure that they are up to date with the current standards and regulations
• Auditing of documents, for vessels and planning schedules
• Monitor and set the budget for the HSEQ Department.

Requirements:

• 5 years or more experience as Superintendent in ship management and operations or Certificate of Competency Class 3 (Deck) - or relevant

• Responsible for contacting partners, understanding the market supply and demand situation and searching for LNG international trading opportunities, and carrying out LNG trading task such as concluding deals.
• Ensure smooth LNG delivery operation including nominating and changing LNG cargo delivery window, disposing LNG spec test report and issue invoice.
• Responsible for the collection of international market related information and data to provide fundamental analysis and trade structure design support for LNG trading decisions.
• Completing the review and negotiation related to the trade contract, coordinating with various departments of the company to complete the internal and external procedures.
• Ensure the compliance operation of the subordinate positions,improve and implement the company's trade risk control system, and ensure that the trade business is in a risk-controlled basis for long-term sustainable development.
