Roles & Responsibilities

Financial Reporting / Management & Reviews

• Preparation of payments for approval
• Ensure preparation of timely and accurate management accounts
• Prepare and maintain full sets of financial reports
• Monitor and analyse monthly results/variances and perform financial review to directors
• Manage working capital effectively by preparing monthly cash flow projection
• Ensure reports are prepared in accordance to statutory requirements
• Responsible for yearly budgeting and forecasting
• Assist, prepare and monitor business plans and performance review
• Review of contract terms & conditions including company legal documents
• Assist with ad-hoc assignments as assigned by Directors

Audit and Taxation

• Responsible for all statutory audit and tax filing matters including liaising with professionals
• Draft financial statements for respective entities
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting and tax regulations and timelines

Internal Control and Compliance

• Develop and implement internal reporting and compliance of accounting policies and procedures
• Ensure best in practice internal control environment

Our Client is seeking an Assistant Client Accounting Manager with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join the team in Singapore. The candidate should have minimum 1-3 years of relevant working experience preferably from a professional services firm in Assurance / Accounting / Outsourcing / Client Accounting environment serving SME clients.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with a portfolio of customers ranging from SME business owners to Finance-Admin SME staff and assist with issues on accounting, GST, tax, payroll and corporate secretarial matters.

You may be tasked to assist in training and helping a team of junior accountants and bookkeepers based both in Singapore and in our Philippines office. In this regard, the ideal candidate should have sound technical knowledge, be task-driven, but also have an ability to work with other accountants and bookkeepers, helping and guiding them technically.

This is a full-time position with a 100% remote working arrangement. You may either fully work-from-home or pursue a hybrid option of working from our office situated at 80 Robinson Road and work-from-home.

What you will do:

Sales and Onboarding:

● Prospect, quote, onboard new customers and identify suitable Xero-integrated apps or solutions (point-of-sales, inventory, payments, payroll) for accounting automation

● Drive and lead migration work, managing production team members to complete

● Identify opportunities to provide more value and services to the customers, translating to higher fees and upsell of services

Production of Deliverables:

● Create and disseminate monthly management accounts using Xero cloud accounting ecosystem and its integrated solutions. You may be tasked to supervise and review the work of production team members.

● Prepare workpapers, annual unaudited financial statements and tax computation. You may be tasked to supervise and review the work of production team members.

● Perform or review monthly or quarterly GST submissions for customers, as well as submissions of Estimated Chargeable Income and final tax Form C/S on IRAS portal.

● Compute or review payroll and submission of CPF to CPF Board, submission of annual IR8A and IR21.

● Liaise with Corporate Secretary partner firm to ensure Annual Return filing deadlines are met.

● Ensure all timelines and reporting deadlines are adhered to.

● Communicate complex technical information to customers and other stakeholders.

● Ensure good client feedback, customer satisfaction and encourage referrals.

What you will need:

● Minimum 1-3 years of relevant working experience preferably from a professional services firm in Assurance/Accounting/Outsourcing/Client Accounting environment serving SME clients

● Minimum Diploma in Accounting or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA etc.)

● Experience preparing Financial Statements, Tax Computation with good knowledge in Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, tax laws, GST and CPF is preferred

● A self motivated and proactive mindset, able to make suggestions on the improvement of the firm, and generate initiatives on your own.

● A high level of interpersonal or communication skills. The ideal candidate should be a good leader, be results and outcomes driven but with great people skills

● Have the ability to be an extremely good communicator of complex technical information into simple client centric language

● A natural people person and love working with and dealing with client’s problems, and teaching and mentoring junior staff members

● A knack and interest in testing and rolling out new software and tech solutions. A comfortable digital native.

● Training on accounting software and integrated apps will be provided, however prior experience with Xero accounting software is preferred

The Role

Reporting to the Singapore Country GM and Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting function for Singapore including preparation of monthly financial statements, variance analysis, fixed register, review purchase and sales transactions, bank reconciliation, monitoring of inventory system, cashflow management, review of tax and GST returns, payments, liaising with auditors and tax agents.

You will drive the set up and implementation of finance processes and systems.

Your Profile

As the successful candidate, you will possess a degree in Accountancy or ACCA with the following relevant experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in handling the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions
• Exposure within a bunker/commodity/oil trading environment will be highly preferred
• Prior exposure in a Big 4 audit firm will be ideal but not a must
