Your day to day

As Assistant Banquet Manager, you oversee the execution of assigned banquet events to ensure optimum performance, superior guest service, and maximum profitability of all functions. Financial Returns

Guest Experience

• Ensure guests are greeted upon arrival. Respond to guest requests and complaints in a prompt and professional manner. Make appropriate service recovery gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure total guest satisfaction.
• Ensure that all Banquet events are executed according to Banquet Event Order to client satisfaction
• Ensure regular client contact when meetings/events are in-house through Daily Meetings Debrief, and ensure all hotel operational details are executed correctly
• Post event, obtain client feedback, review guest check with client after function and obtain signature.
• Ensure client feedback is communicated and acted upon internally and manage timely resolution of any issues with the client.

Responsible Business

• Ensure the cleanliness and tidy of the work station and ensure all equipment is in good working order
• Maintain the cleanliness, neat and being well-groom appearance at all times during on duty
• Ensure that rooms are set-up and service delivery is carried out according to guest expectations and banquet event order.
• Conduct pre-function meetings with scheduled staff and review all information pertinent to the service and set-up of groups. Inspect scheduled function areas/rooms, table set-ups, bar set-ups, buffet tables, receptions and coffee breaks for cleanliness, attractiveness and proper layout.
• Meet with Kitchen Staff to review scheduled groups’ menu. Ensure agreement of delivery times, amounts, and arrangements.
• Coordinate any AV equipment, or other technical needs
• Monitor and maintain procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of banquet inventory and equipment, (2) ensure the security of monies, credit and financial transactions, (3) replenish supplies, inventory, uniforms, etc. in a timely and efficient manner, and (4) to minimize misuse and breakage of china, glassware, linen, and supplies and to ensure that no re-usable goods are wasted. Assist in establishing par levels for supplies and equipment.
• Ensure that equipment is prepared for the following day’s work. Ensure that all banquet equipment is in proper operational condition and is cleaned on a regular basis. Ensure that all banquet facilities are cleaned, vacuumed, and properly stocked according to anticipated business volumes.
• May assist in reviewing par levels for supplies and equipment and completing requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for anticipated business.
• May handle incoming/outgoing boxes and exhibit materials.
• Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures
• Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
• Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers.
• Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.
• May serve as Manager on Duty.
• May assist with other duties, including assisting banquet staff with their job functions during peak periods.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Corporate Communications Department (CCD) is responsible for leading and developing the communications strategies and policies of Singapore Children’s Society and effectively advocating the charity’s cause.

Job Description

• Lead the department’s strategic planning and budgeting in support of the Organisation’s goals and service strategy
• Translate corporate communications strategy into actionable goals for the department’s performance
• Lead and manage the Corporate Communications team to ensure effective stakeholder communications and education, as well as maintain and protect our brand and reputation through the various communications platforms, collateral and initiatives
• In charge of managing the corporate website of the Society, including periodic enhancements of the website and content management
• Responsible for the department’s smooth day-to-day operations in managing public and media queries, external communications and reputation management
• Prepare quarterly reports and insights for the Standing Committee and management to track performance and identify trends, gaps and opportunities to position the organisation for success
• Provide public relations counsel to the management and key staff
• Manage the department’s talents and resources, including charting the professional development and performance management of talents within the department, mentoring the team to sharpen their skills
• Lead and mentor staff in our media management efforts including handling of media queries and interviews, as well as pitching stories to the media on the work of the Society
• Oversee and contribute towards content creation for social media by working closely with centres and departments, and supporting the development of a social media strategy to improve engagement rate and following
• Oversee Society’s marketing and communications efforts, particularly in outreach to the general public or identified groups of audience e.g. public education on parenting practices
• Oversee and contribute towards Society publications like annual report, Sunbeam newsletters, corporate collateral as well as Staff E-newsletter, including copywriting, editing and proofreading, producing quality publications that aid in stakeholder education and employee communication
• Oversee and support the work of protecting our brand and reputation, including crisis communications. This includes reviewing collateral and written materials of other departments and centres, to ensure our logo is correctly applied and copywriting is factual and of good quality to protect our reputation and work
• Responsible for data protection and ensuring our practices keep our stakeholders’ data protected
• Identify best practices and continually improve SOPs, promoting a culture of professional excellence
• Represent the organisation at relevant conferences, networking events, meetings etc as needed

Requirements

• Degree holder with a minimum of 8 years of related working experience; with at least 2 years of managerial experience and leading teams
• Preferably knowledgeable and familiar with the non-profit sector
• Excellent communication and writing skills to craft press releases, media FAQs, CEO messages, speeches and internal and external communications. Proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage to engage Chinese-speaking target audience
• Influential leader with the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels and build a high-performance team
• Media relations and Public Relations skills as well as crisis communications and management
• Track record of developing brand positioning and shaping messaging strategies leading to increased brand recognition
• Knowledge and understanding of social media marketing and other digital marketing tactics

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible and accountable to the vessel owner in coordinating and monitoring any newbuilding projects within MEO and/or its Joint Venture domain

• Manage the Newbuilding / Conversion and project management development phase with the PMT, designer / consultant, flag authority / Classification / and provide constructive advice

• Assist in development of vessel newbuild/ conversion budget for management

• Coodinate and follow up with shipyard/ designer/ consultant for the “As Fitted Drawings, Class Approval and Documentations”.

• Prepare newbuilding vessel delivery in coordination with the Vessel Owner

• Ensure that all projects and newbuilds are on time, on budget with good quality outcome with proper records maintained and submitted to Vessel Owners upon completion

• Ensure strict adherence to the Newbuilding and Engineering procedures

• Involved in the Research and Development of newbuildings and/or conversion and constantly provide updates on cost effective solutions for Management

• Prepare, install, maintain and provide trainings to crews for Stability Calculator on board (Crew Boats & OSV)

• Attend to vessel Sea trials, drydocking, repairs and surveys when required

• Travel overseas at short notices to attend to newbuilding/projects inspections/meetings or survey when necessary

• Keep COO advised on developments of newbuilding or any other projects progress

Job Requirements:

• Chief Engineer ticket with more than 5 years of sailing experience or equivalent in (shore / offshore ship management environment exposure)

• Knowledge of crewboats / Workboats / AHT / AHTS and barges operations and designs.

• Minimum 5 years of OSV and crewboats management experience
