About the Role

The Business Times Visual team is looking for an experienced Digital Graphics Designer to join our newsroom. You will work with journalists, developers, designers, and editors to create original digital content for our readers, enhancing our brand of storytelling.

Many business stories are accompanied by data. You will need to think about how to present data in a way that is accessible, clear and enhances the value and utility of the news content. There will also be opportunities to work on features and enterprise stories that require you to suggest visual assets that elevate the journalism.

The ideal candidate must possess the craft of designing digital experiences and should have an appreciation of business news.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with journalists and developers to understand requirements and translate them into visual designs that accurately represent the underlying data, editorial angle, or product request.
• Assist in designing, illustrating, and prototyping data visualisation, visual stories, and social media assets using various tools and technologies.
• Use various statistics and data science tools for data parsing, scraping and wrangling
• Collaborate with the UX team to ensure that interactive graphics are user-friendly, responsive, and accessible across various devices.
• Help document the design process, including any issues or challenges encountered during the design stages.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve and innovate our interactive content.
• Conduct research alongside writers to seek relevant information, including conducting interviews and finding/verifying data sources.
• Manage workflow and process for data-driven stories in the newsroom
• Thoroughly test and troubleshoot interactive graphics to ensure functionality and performance standards are met.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve and innovate our interactive content.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated track record in delivering appealing and useful data visualisation or digital storytelling projects.
• Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects), HTML, CSS and JavaScript (d3.js, WebGL and Svelte are a plus).
• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modelling and rendering software and familiarity with 2D illustration.
• Proficiency with data visualisation and interactive web design platforms like Flourish or Datawrapper.
• Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial analysis tools, and data visualisation platforms are a plus.
• Excellent creative and artistic abilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with the news industry and an interest in current events.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work.
• At least three years’ experience working in a fast-paced environment

Job Description

-Manage day to day operations and ensure smooth running of Tree Art campus.

-Proactively engage customers and build good rapport through understanding of students and their progress development.

-Engage in effective sales pitch through familiarising with Tree Art curriculum and programme.

-Support management in planning and executing strategies to increase sales.

-Plan, organise and communicate to customers on the various programme and campus events.

-Serve as customer’s main point of contact and manage communication platforms.

-Responsible for customer enquiries, student enrolment and post-sales services.

-Coordinate class schedule and arrange for replacement teachers when necessary.

-Monitor student attendance and follow up to arrange for makeup lesson.

-Perform administrative duties including maintaining ERP, student records and tracking withdrawals.

-Share expertise and provide guidance to direct report.

-Motivate and work as a team in the achievement of service excellence and centre targets.

-Liaise with landlord on updates.

-Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Director.

Qualification:
-Minimum Diploma in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
-Sales experience in industries such as beauty, cosmetics, or retail services is highly desirable.
-Fresh graduates with a strong sales acumen are welcome to apply.
-At least 1 year of relevant experience in sales, hospitality, marketing, or education.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Utilize SolidWorks to design and modify product designs with precision and efficiency ;
• Operate CNC Milling machines using HyperMill CAM software to produce high -quality components according to sepcifications;
• Perform product assembly tasks to ensure the seamless intergration of components;
• Provide exceptional after-sales service to our valued customers, addressing inquriies, troubleshooting issues ,and ensuring their satisfactio.

The LTD will:

• collaborate with teachers to bring innovative EdTech ideas into reality through iterative and learner/user-centred design, prototyping, and development.
• coach and support teachers in using educational technologies, ensuring effective integration with existing curricula.
• work closely with Academic Heads of Dept to understand the unique needs of the various departments and work on projects to best harness technology to transform teaching and learning.
• support meaningful integration technology into the classroom, to enhance the learning experience for students (e.g. greater personalisation) and empower educators with tailored tech solutions for high-ability learners.
• co-identify instructional challenges faced by teachers and create, curate and experiment with cutting-edge tools/resources/solutions that will transform teaching and learning for high-ability learners.
• research and stay updated on the latest trends in educational technology, recommending and testing new tools that can enhance learning outcomes.
• partner members of ICT Hub to evaluate the implementation of the school’s ICT focus, programmes and direction in alignment with the school’s strategic thrusts and national goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Computing & Design, or a related field
• Experience with coding languages such as Python and JavaScript, and familiarity with prototyping, wireframing and design software.
• Knowledge of education, instructional design, and learning theory is a plus.
• Proactive, team player who is an independent worker, strong interpersonal skills, an analytical and creative problem-solver, passion for ICT, new media and new technology
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Learning Management Systems and AR/VR, gamification, AI in education, and other emerging EdTech trends is a plus.
• Background in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles is a plus.
