Overview:

The role holder, reporting to the Financial Controller, leads the full spectrum of Finance of a business unit of our client, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, project management, property management, tax planning, corporate governance and treasury matters, in compliance with Financial Reporting Standards and Group accounting policies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards and group guidelines;
• Monitoring and analysis of monthly reporting results against Budget / Forecast / Prior Year.
• Planning and management of Budget and Forecasting;
• Preparation of quarterly GST submissions and annual corporate income tax filings with IRAS;
• Preparation of commission / incentives pay-out and computation of staff car benefits;
• Monitoring of company’s treasury arrangements, cash flow position and prepare cash management plan;
• Conduct annual / periodic stock take and assets verifications;
• Business partnering with the Heads of Departments and their teams to help improve business performance and optimize posts;
• Liaising with internal and external auditors, tax agents and corporate secretary to ensure timely completion of audits, tax filing, accounts and corporate matters;
• Identifying process improvements and enhancements in internal controls and data automation;
• Assist in the evaluation of new business proposals and preparation of business plans;
• Manage, supervise and counselling of the Finance team on work performance, expectations and training;
• Property assets management;
• Handle any ad-hoc projects or tasks as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements:

• Degree or professional qualification in Accountancy or CPA with at least 5 years of relevant experience, of which 3 years are in a leadership role;
• Strong ERS acumen and understanding of financial and tax reporting;
• Good analytical skills with a keen eye for details and desire to probe further into data;
• Effective communication skills – both written and verbal;
• Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships;
• Ability to multi-task work and adhere to datelines;
• Independent yet a collaborator, meticulous and hands-on with demonstrated maturity.

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join us a 9-month contract role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of month-end close, hard-close, fast close and year-end close processes of designated business divisions.
• Prepare/review and analyze monthly management and financial reports
• Prepare/review internal and external schedules/reports as required.
• Review and provide direction to staff with regards to account reconciliation and sub-ledgers to general ledger and other balance sheet reconciliations such as banks/inventory, etc. for completeness and accuracy and follow up on action items.
• Identify areas with exposure to risk/potential risk in the designated business divisions. Suggest solutions to mitigate the risks.
• Ensure that working papers, schedules, correspondences, and other documentation meet quality assurance tests and are in line with DFS best practices.
• Provide support and respond to queries from divisions on a timely basis. Where necessary, co-ordinate and work with other departments/functions to accomplish objectives.
• Ensure accounting treatment of standard or special processes comply with DFS accounting policies and internal control procedures.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors as well as other outside parties as required.
• Work closing with Consolidation and Group Reporting, Corporate and Divisions FP&A for changes to management reports arising from accounting changes, new businesses, etc.
• Keep abreast of on-going accounting and reporting changes in IFRS and local reporting standards.
• Participate in ad hoc projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• 3-5 years of experience, preferably with some commercial experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• General Ledger and consolidation experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in software packages and flexibility to learn new tools like SAP ERP, SAP Business, Planning & Consolidation, Excel, Word, Blackline, Concur and Coupa
