Reporting to the Director, Market Analysis, the Senior Market Analyst will be responsible for supporting Singapore Trading desks by providing short- and long-term fundamental analysis to the Crude desk. The Senior Market Analyst will work effectively within the Singapore analysis group but contribute regularly to the assignments led by trading strategists in other locations such as Houston and London. He or she is responsible to identify and propose trading strategies based on fundamental analysis. The Senior Market Analyst should proactively engage with traders and trading managers to understand current and potential business needs and tailor analysis accordingly.

Primary Function/Responsibilities:

• Analyze fundamental data; update monthly supply and demand crude balances for the Asia and Middle East crude markets and contribute to fundamental reports.
• Track refinery maintenance, expansions, crude trade flows, and fuel specification changes.
• Model crude demand based on refinery runs, product demand, stockpiling activities.
• Calculate arbitrage values for multiple crude grades based on RCV values and freight.
• Maintain and update databases, with data from multiple government sources and data agencies.
• Estimate crude field maintenance and refinery operating rates.
• Tracks ships to keep the relevant desks updated on regional trade flows.
• Participate in weekly meetings with traders, collaborate and formulate the short-term market view and try to generate trading ideas.
• Develop, maintain and improve new models to support changing business needs.
• Provide daily market updates of news and analysis pertinent to the crude market worldwide. This would include market intelligence from a range of publications, news sources and original work.
• Provide ad hoc analysis and help with data augmentation exercises carried by the Singapore analysis team.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance or economics.
• 6-10 years’ experience on a commodity trading floor, with trading support, or in a refinery in a market/planning function, or a fundamental research firm is preferred.
• Financial, economic, statistical analysis or modeling experience is preferred.
• Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Excel, Access or other database software, statistical modeling software, and economic model development is a plus (R, Matlab, Eviews, Stata,etc) preferred.
• Coding experience in SQL and VBA or other programing language preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft software applications.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and provide guidance to Finance team to ensure financial reports are delivered according to Group’s financial guidelines and timelines
• Business partnering with Finance Shared Service, Operations teams and stakeholders to provide advice on financial reporting and planning activities
• Review monthly closing of accounts, financial reports, analysis for management’s decision making and ensure compliance with group’s accounting policies
• Prepare and/or review sub-groups monthly analysis, reports and presentation slides
• Manage sub-groups’ annual budgeting and ad hoc forecasting processes
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external auditors on reporting requirements
• Support investment and divestment activities
• Perform financial simulation or scenario planning and ongoing process improvements
• Propose improvements to existing processes and procedures to increase team’s effectiveness and efficiency
• Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
• At least 15 years of relevant working experience, of which at least 5 years in supervisory capacity
• Good understanding of Singapore financial reporting standards and local tax rules
• Experience in the real estate industry is preferred
• Ability to work independently and effectively deliver under tight timelines
• Excellent team worker with strong communication, analytical, people-management and organization skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (such as Excel and Powerpoint) and familiarity with IBM Cognos Controller, SAP accounting software is an added advantage

Month End Financial Reporting duties.

· Prepare month-end Journals and closing activities.

Requirements

At Least Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field

Experience

· Finance professional in an MNC environment with minimal 3 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• See through/support Counterparty Credit Risk system (CCR) change requests/ projects/ bug fix (whichever applicable) from initiation to sign-off:
• Gather, analyse and document user’s requirements
• Prepare, execute and validate SIT test scenario
• Review user’s UAT test requirement, execute and support UAT
• The candidate is expected to work closely and communicate effectively and independently with developers, business users and external vendors.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Good knowledge & 3+ years experience in Murex system (MX 3.1)- Front office and risk modules (MLC), for all asset classes; Knowledge & experience in trade lifecycle is an added advantage.
• Ability to analyse user’s requirement and translate into functional requirement; Role seniority will be based on candidate’s experience with MLC system.
• Strong analytical and logical approach to problem solving and system solutioning.
• Strong coordination and organization/documentation skills; Self-starter in documentation is an added advantage.
