Job Description

• Preparation and checking of the Branch’s MAS regulatory reports and make adjustments, where required. Work with Head Office teams and system vendor to maintain an automated solution for MAS Regulatory Reporting.
• Assist with monitoring of daily regulatory ratios and requirements for the branch (e.g. Asset Maintenance Ratio, MLA & MCB) and preparation the daily regulatory reports.
• Assist with preparation of journal entries and detailed subaccount ledgers. Ensure adherence with Accounting Policy and Head Office requirements including performing checks on invoices and receipts for payments.
• Review of Nostro reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of unreconciled items.
• Assist the Department Head in taxation matters, including corporate tax computation and GST related matters.
• Provide the Head Office with financial data, including ratios for assets-liabilities position monitoring, Head Office regulatory requirement and ad hoc requests for financial information.
• Assist in the preparation of year-end Financial Statements and the provision of supporting documents to auditors.
• Assist the Department Head to consolidate operating budgets for the branch. Review detailed subaccount ledgers of business expenses.
• Assist the Department Head in process improvement initiatives and other financial reporting matters as requested.

Requirements

• Experience in Singapore bank regulatory and financial reporting preferred.

About the role:

The finance manager is the CEO’s partner in controlling the business’ financial health. They approach problem-solving in a constructive way and find innovative solutions for the CEO and leadership team. This is much more than just the ability to crunch numbers and produce accurate financial reports. The finance manager needs to possess the analytical ability and know-how to look at those numbers and really understand what the data is saying, then communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure buy-in.

Practically this will involve reporting, analysis and business operations intel in a constructive manner to ensure:

• Finance Leadership

This role essentially heads the finance department. As such, the roles include the plan to invest in and up-skill the finance team, communicating what changes are needed and why.

• Finance Communication

This includes ongoing heads-up of issues that arise, as they arise, through to the CEO and LT for a ‘no surprises’ approach. Communication needs to be more than just reports. Finance needs to sit with the CEO to explain reports and close out on open matters. This also includes creating a strong and positive relationship with TSC investors through active engagement as required.

• Weekly cashflows

High level at least 3 months out. These should be updated each week for things that change (this will mainly be on the revenue side as new deals drop in or receipt timing changes, but expenses should be very predictable). They will include relevant items such as what ageing A/R look like and run-way based on current spending and be accompanied each week by a quick meeting summarising: what’s changed, what the LT need to know, and what are the recommended actions.

• Monthly Reporting Package

Comparison of actual to budget – month and YTD, with analysis and commentary of variances, what we need to do to turn it around. This also includes an updated FY forecast by P&L, cash flow and Balance Sheet, and details of other projects underway (i.e. audit, tax return, Brazil status) and be produced within 5 days from the end of the month (or faster).

This should be formally closed each month with no changes in previous periods – i.e. any changes relating to the past are changed in the current period to avoid losing track of these. This must be accompanied each month with a meeting to run through the key points for the month and the future.

• SaaS-based Reporting

This is tied to and forms part of the Monthly Reporting Package. It should be accompanied by relevant analysis, such as if we adopt a full IFRS (audit) compliant approach for monthly reporting and what other statistics and measures you suggest we provide investors.

Operations and controls

This includes accounting, bookkeeping tasks, managing SKUs and AR and AP in partnership with other team members, managing the audit process, budgeting and budgeting controls.

Job Responsibilities

The role holder, reporting to the Assistant Group Financial Controller in day-to-day operations, is responsible for tax, audit and reporting activities of the group in compliance with local & international tax regulations, Financial Reporting Standards, and Group accounting policies & guidelines.

Tax

• Provide support for the tax components of Group direct and indirect taxes, ensuring adherence to local country tax mandates.

• Attend to tax queries with the tax authorities.

Audit

• Lead the audit of the Group, working with Country Head of Finance and ensure prompt and timely completion of external audits of the Group and its subsidiaries.

• Review and improve internal control procedures; formulate and implement financial policies to ensure high standards of financial controls.

Reporting & Compliance

• Review and provide accurate Group financial information to Management.

• Working closely with Country Head of Finance to ensure timely delivery of output.

• Formulate and implement group accounting policies and procedures, ensuring policies are uniformly applied throughout the Group.

• Assist in implementation of new and revised accounting standards to the Group.

• Assist in ensuring all group accounting policies and reporting processes are documented and kept-up-to date.

• Assist in periodic reviews of all finance policies, processes and procedures to ensure they are optimal for the changing demands of the business.

Others

• Assist in Group Treasury Management.

• Build and manage relationships with business partners, external auditors and consultants.

• Assist in the implementation of new ERP system with primary focus on the finance and accounting modules. Review and execute the Group Chart of Accounts ensuring that the Chart of Accounts is consistently implemented within the Group ERP system.

• Assist in financial modelling, investment analysis, project evaluation and due diligence to support investment decisions, as well as funding requirements.

Qualification and Experience

• Qualified ACCA / CA with at least 8 yrs experience in audit & tax, and 3 yrs experience in a leadership role

Knowledge and Skills

Key Responsibilities:

Following on from work undertaken within the Finance and Actuarial teams, the FRCF programme has been initiated to assess the current state of the reporting control framework, high risk processes and to uncover specific control weaknesses or gaps.

The Senior Finance Analyst will work on the FRC Programme working closely across both the Singapore and London office to document the current state processes as well as identifying the risks and controls currently in place across Underwriting, Claims and Finance Operations (including Reporting). This role will also capture any gaps in process that require remediation. Documentation will cover all processes end to end and within other functional areas such as; Underwriting, Claims and Financial Operations (including reporting).

The Senior Finance Analyst will play a key role in ensuring the programme meets the required objectives and there will be a level of flexibility to identify what work is undertaken.
