Purpose of the post

Working in the group of Assistant Professor Qu Kun at the ID TRP and the Department of Biochemistry (https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/bch/faculty/qu-kun/), the Research Fellow will conduct a project aimed at understanding the immune response of respiratory viruses. The Qu lab is funded by the Presidential Young Professorship start-up award, National Medical Research Council Young Individual Research Grant, and Ministry of Education Academic Research Funds. We decipher dynamic and elusive viral infection mechanisms using cryo-electron microscopy, tomography and subtomogram averaging. In 2024, the latest Titan Krios G4 TEM and Arctis cryo-plasma focused ion beam milling SEM are scheduled for installation at the NUS Centre for BioImaging Sciences (CBIS), which will offer us formidable advantages to conduct highly automatic structural studies inside the cell.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Manage and take ownership of assigned special processes to enhance robustness, efficiency and productivity
• Responsible for new capital equipment and facilitates recommendation, revaluation, selection, installation and commissioning
• Manage and qualify development or new repairs that will be approved by Engineering
• Develop a continuing quality and productivity improvement program on the assigned special processes for all applicable products
• Interface with and contribute to other departments to ensure a totally integrated and effective approach to overall business plans and strategies
• Generate and maintain adequate technical records of the experiments and parametric studies managing the documented processes

Qualifications/Requirements :

• A Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering from a local or internationally recognized university
• At least 3 years’ experience engineering processes in related industry preferred
• Knowledge of repair of Gas Turbine components and Plasma spraying coating will be advantageous
• Familiarity with thermal spraying and diffusion coatings
• Previous experience in repair of industrial gas, aero turbines or aeroderivatives would be advantageous (but not essential)
• Experience in Lean Six sigma would be advantageous (but not essential)

Job Responsibilities

• Reporting to the local IT Supervisor
• Provide a high level of customer service. Provide support and troubleshooting of hardware and software problems to the end-users
• Involved in the company new system implementation as well as provide user training to the end-users
• Provide support for in-house application system and software upgrading that includes instatllation, configuration and troubleshooting of application system problems
• Coordinate with vendors or suppliers or internal support teams to solve problems
• Ensure compliance of the IT systems with corporate policy or guidelines
• Share service support whereby need to travel to few office locations to provide support

Job Requirements

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
• Over 2 years’ work experience in IT support
• Familiar with Windows Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows 10, active directory, teams and office 365)
• Network skills: Internet connectivity, Mail host services, Network (LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN) etc
• Mobile Technologies (iOS, Android)
• Customer relationship management skills proven within previous environments
• Can work independently with strong analytical and problem solving skill
