It is one of fifteen Departments, a Program, and a Language Centre within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Southeast Asia and East Asia are areas of special strength for the Department, which consists of more than thirty faculty members with research interests in various aspects of Asian, European, and U.S. history, as well as business, environmental, international, legal, maritime, military, and religious history, and science and technology studies.

The Department of History at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a part-time lecturer to teach HY5415 Theatres of Memory: Performing Public History in Semester 2, AY2024/25. Applicants should have relative teaching experience with history background. Candidates for the position must demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching.

Course description of HY5415 Theatres of Memory: Performing Public History

This course surveys how societies gain new understandings of the past through performances in the public sphere. A broad spectrum of performances across various cultural contexts will be explored, including theatre and dance, historical re-enactments, public rituals, immersive exhibitions, films, and digital sites such as video games and social media. This course equips students with a toolkit with which to interpret, analyse, and reflect on the dramaturgical strategies and techniques that shape the stories told in these performances, examining how they enhance historical consciousness and negotiate the distance between past and present for the communities involved.

Gene Solutions provides medical diagnostics and screening tests for oncology and maternal health. We are expanding our new oncology hub in Singapore, and are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Preanalytical Lab Specialist I to join our team.

The Preanalytical Lab Specialist will be responsible for conducting the logistics processes of an NGS laboratory, encompassing specimen collection through to result delivery. This role involves managing logistics efficiency, inventory management, ensuring compliance with quality standards to facilitate seamless operations.

This is a junior position intended for fresh graduates.

Working hours are Tues – Friday, 1 pm – 10 pm, and Sat 9:30 am – 5:30 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Pre-Testing Processes:

• Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for efficient biological specimen collection, handling, transportation, and receiving.
• Collaborate with the collection sites to ensure the integrity, proper labeling, documentation, and tracking of incoming samples.
• Monitor quality control measures during the pre-analytical phase to ensure accurate and reliable test results

2. Post-Testing Processes:

• Oversee the logistics in delivery of results, ensuring secure and timely distribution to relevant stakeholders.
• Facilitate seamless data exchange by coordinating secure channels for sharing test results and relevant information, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and confidentiality agreements during collaborative efforts.
• Collaborate with laboratory operations, and customer service, to streamline internal processes and enhance overall efficiency.

3. Inventory Management:

• Assist laboratory manager with inventory management.
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma in Life Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
